Anyone else getting a metallic taste from this one? I know sugary adjuncts like syrup, honey or molasses can sometimes cause that but it's definitely coming on strong for me.

I thought this was an absolutely wonderful beer. It didn't stick around on shelves here in Rochester MN long at all. We still have plenty of Redankulous tho....

This beer is fantastic. It's more of a hoppy stout than a black IPA. The maple barrels really kick this one up and I'm getting a bourbon note very similar to Woodfor Reserve.

Had on tap last night. 2.50 for an 8oz pour (gotta love half off night!). It was good but it didn't wow me. Started cold and let it warm over an hour or so. Barely got any maple out of it, strong roasty "black" IPA flavor. Almost no barrel taste. Really glad I passed on getting any bombers. Not mad at all for the price I got to try it though.

Had some on tap on Christmas Eve. A good beer. More like a stout, I thought, than a black IPA.

I had this last night and thought it was quite good. It's ambitious to blend a Black IPA with maple syrup and Founders pulled it off as well as anyone could. However, the tastes are still somewhat dissonant. I'm glad I didn't stock up on this one.

had my first of this, followed it after a BCBS, more carbonation def not as heavy as the stouts relative to the style.

Now that we're getting founders on a regular here in Cali. I hope I see this one on shelves. That Black IPA style grew on me so I'm always down to try more. Cheers

All I could taste was metal. My wife said it tasted like cough syrup. Not sure if I got a bad bottle or not, but we both thought it was terrible. Most of my bottle went down the drain.

On my third bottle last night, shared with the fam. Absolutely incredible blend of flavor. Bitter in the front with a touch of roast after followed by some sweet bourbon sexiness. Perfect.

    Is this hoppy or not?

No, not really. It drinks more like a porter than IPA.

Disagree, it's hoppy like how Bigfoot is hoppy. No hop bitterness (or overwhelmed by the barrel) but the fruit is there.

I was surprised that there wasn't much hoppyness to an IIPA. The maple overwhelms a lot more than I expected yet I haven't had many maple aged beers. People in MI went absolutely crazy over this
