    Hey folks,

I couldn't decide which forum this should go on, so I'm hoping this is the right one.
I managed to score some Sweet Repute on tap down in South Carolina last year and loved it. I'm trying to figure out if that's a one time release. Anyone have any input. I'm hoping to hear it's an occasional release wth one coming soon. I'd love to get my hands on a couple bottles.

    Thanks.

Sweet Repute was a Founders Backstage Series release approximately 1 to 2 years ago. You are fortunate to try this beer on tap. I don't think there is very many barrels floating around any more. I suspect Founders will bottle it again some day but that day is anyone's guess.

You might find some of these bottles if you put out a request on the trade forums. I've read numerous times that Sweet Repute was very similar to New Holland Pilgrim's Dole but I have not had Pilgrim's Dole myself. You may try searching for that beer to see if you like it.

I think it was somewhat of a remake of nemesis, 2010 if I remember correctly. Also Blushing Monk was the original backstage and it made a second go round so you never know. I think we will see it again!

I would say it's very close to Pilgrims Dole (wheat wine in bourbon barrels) but sweeter, because these have been aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels instead. Both are delicious, but Sweet Repute is the definite winner.

Also had Sweet Repute XXX on draft at the cellar week Founders had a few weeks back, and that was even better. I really hope they brew and bottle this one again.

It was a one-time-only release Dec. 2013. I was lucky to be at Founders to buy several bottles and have it on tap too. Good and unusual beer. Still have one left which I am cellaring.

But as noted above wasn't Blushing Monk also one time brew release in 2011? Picked up some 2015 bottles at Founders yesterday.

With CBS and Blushing Monk both making returns it seems like all of the hits from their backstage series are making a comeback eventually

While a comeback is always possible down the line, I am not sure it will be for some time. Blushing Monk and CBS were beers that people constantly asked for and a high want for most. Sweet Repute I have seen still in some stores on the shelf here, so not sure if the demand is there.

I was wondering about this myself. If Founders did remake this, would they do it entirely in Maple Syrup bourbon barrels or would they blend it with bourbon barrels like they did for Sweet Repute (Nemesis 09 was entirely maple syrup if I recall correctly and arguably they are similar enough to be compared). Another possibility is making it using the original Better Half/Kaiser Curmudgeon recipe and having it be draft only like with CBS.

Or what if they released bottles of Sappy Slappy Bastard. Whoa.

I really loved this beer and did not care for pilgrams dole. I just tried pilgrams dole again yesterday to make sure and still wasn't pleased.

As for seeing sweet repute on the shelves please pm me and I'll trade for it.

Blushing Monk was also bottled in 2007.

Did Founders say it was a one-time-only release?

Thanks folks, I guess the consensus is to just keep my eyes peeled and try for some trades. I had it in May of 2014 in Greenville, SC. Totally stumbled on it and was pleasantly surprised. Found a bottle of Black Note the same day. It was a great evening.

    Thanks again!

They just made a Sweet Repute XXX on tap only. Aged 3 years in maple barrels. Freaking amazing.
