Yep I was Pizza Luce SP and when I left an hour and 15 minutes later KBS was still on. For the initial release @ Pizzeria Lola KBS kicked in about 30 mins. I was able to snag some KBS today because I was about 40th in line @ 4 pm. Where ever KBS is being tapped you have to be there @ start time.

Yeah I was in Grand Rapids, MN today and on the road when the tap takeover at B and B started today so I didn't even bother... Knew it was gonna be a shit show. Oh well still have a bottle that's packed in a box hidden so it will make the move with me next week. Didn't hear about Pizzeria Lola... I suck at this I guess.

got there a little late... missed the 'big 3'. had to 'settle' with a glass of waldos.

only thing i was upset about is the $7 plastic cup of beer. if I am gonna pay $7 for a beer, it better be served in a glass. i get it that there was a lot of people there, but plan ahead. You are advertising a huge event that a lot of people are going to come to. make sure you serve the beer how it's supposed to be if you are going to charge that much.

Well nothing, really, did go wrong. Was able to get up and grab a beer fairly quickly. The staff was on top of shit. I cant stress this enough: Butcher and the Boar crew were awesome.

I guess my ***** hurts so much because things seem like they have gotten so out of hand. If nothing else, I learned to to avoid events like this. No offense to others. I'm quite sure my presence won't be missed.

There was nothing ground breaking or life changing there. Frankly it kinda makes me appreciate some of the great beers like Odell IPA, Edmund Fitz, and Old Raspy that are just sitting around in every store because they're not sexy or appealing to the trendy crowd. Whatever. Cheers ya'll!

To tack onto this, I'm pretty sure on the tap list that $7 beer was listed as $6.

I don't have a problem with them running out of the big 3 as there were plenty of other good beers to be had, but yes, glassware and pricing (charging what you advertise) could have been better.

Outside my wife got a $9 cocktail and I ordered a Waldo, ended up paying 17.50, was a bit pissed when I went inside and saw the beer was supposed to be $6, not $8.50.

Too much bullshit. I won't be going back. Plastic cups. Not priced as listed. All 3 hard to get beers gone in a half hour. Leaves a sour taste in this BAs mouth. Many other places that run these events smoother.

I stopped in with a buddy. We got there at 4 and by the time we got through the ID check and up to the front of the line for a beer (about 15 minutes), Doom was kicked. Because we were there we each grabbed a KBS (plactic cup) for $9 but with taxes is came out to be $10ish. You want to have a Founder's take over, awesome, but if you know Doom, KBS, and Bolt Cutter are really limited why do the 12oz pours? B&B have had these types of events before and knew the amount of people that would show up. It seems to me that small 4oz glasses would have been the better route to go to help stretch what they had. I mean the event did run from 4-10, right? And to be kicked on 3 of the beers in the first 25 minutes seems a little ridiculous. Kind of felt like a little bait & switch tactic where they knew Doom, KBS, and Bolt Cutter would draw people in and then they would stay and just drink shelf Founders after the limited stuff was gone. Whatever, do what you want but I for sure will be hesitant to return for another event like this. Ended up just shooting over to New Bohemia and cracked a few nice beers I had brought with a buddy and grabbed food there so it ended on a positive note.

Man, glad I didn't go. Sounds like the B&B has some stuff to work out...after the Pentagram release, I wasn't too heartbroken to stay home on my couch.

next time, they should ID ahead of time and do smaller pours, I would have preferred a flight. Also, the founders rep should probably secure a bigger keg.

Reading all of this makes me so glad that I don't even attempt to go to these releases. Sounds like a lot of hassle to sip a few ounces of "rare" beer.

Too much overall good beer in the market to spend extra time and dollars on these highly sought after beers. Even if an event is run perfectly, there will still always be people with hurt feelings because there is just too much demand these days.

    Comments considered and lessons learned.

    Will do better next time.

Just to respond to a few complaints
Want to say that I'm terribly sorry to those who weren't able to try what they wanted to last night. Definitely regretting using 10 oz tulips, will be using 4-5 oz portions next time. Especially since the 6 cases of tulips I ordered last Friday never came in, they will probably arrive this morning knowing my luck. I was very worried about glassware. My fears were realized. As for cost, our beers are listed with out tax, sometimes frustrating I know, and downtown liquor tax is insane. Unfortunately not my call, I just buy the beer.

We had expected a crowd, but what we got was more than anticipated. I mean a 14 minute keg? Seriously? 3 kegs in 25 minutes? I obviously wish that I had back up kegs... but no one has back up kegs.

Again, lessons learned, quite a few things I'd like to do differently next time.

    But still, thanks for coming.

Thanks alot for the bash yesterday Ben. Despite the top 3 going early we still had a great time and enjoyed drinking the other offerings. The band was good and the crowd lively. Looking forward to the next one!
