Unbeknownst to Founders, NyQuil is already a year-round release at major chain drugstores.
Go figure, just a few weeks ago I was poking around their website and found Frootwood listed. I figured it was retired but I was still intrigued and want to see if I could find an old bottle somewhere. Now I don't have to!
So you don’t like it then?
There are better uses for cherries.
I really liked this beer last time around so I'm glad to see that they'll try it again.
What a waste of bourbon and maple syrup barrels that could have been used to make more CBS.
12oz is actually a relatively palatable serving of this beer. The bombers last time around are waaaaaay to much.
They were 12oz last time.
Wasn’t it stronger than 8% last time it was released?
The listing here from 2016 shows 8% so I can only assume it’s the same as last time. Anyone else surprised it’s the #16 “Fruit and Field” beer?
hmmm maybe I'm thinking of the release before that idk
I’m excited to try it. It really doesn’t sound like something I would enjoy but I’m definitely curious. You didn’t view it favorably the last time you had it?
Something I don’t think the market really asked for, but whatever.
Nope, gave it a 3.94, which for me is low. I mostly dinged it on flavor, not much cherry, no bourbon detected. Also, not many Fruit and Field style beers impress me. Guess I don't like the taste of Field. I may review it again though, since my tastes have changed a lot in the intervening five years.
Would you say there’s any comparison between Frootwood and a beer like Blushing Monk or Rubaeus?
I'd have to try them side-by-side, but I liked Rübæus (4.14), and loved Blushing Monk (4.25). Then again, I prefer raspberries over cherries.
I seem to as well as far as fruit in beer goes. Have you had Cerise? I too really like Blushing Monk.
Nope, never seen it.
It’s the only other cherry beer I’ve ever seen from Founders. I’m gonna side by side them when the Frootwood comes out to see what similarities they share.
I only ever found the first release on tap, and only at one location. Hopefully I'll be able to stock up on it this time around!
I liked this beer.. I had to check my review to double check though lol.. I completely forgot about this beer..
There were actually both 12oz and bombers for the previous release. They used to do that for all the BA Series beers. The bombers were definitely too much to take on alone, so I'm glad to see all 12oz this year.
Honestly, I've heard a ton of people asking for it any time Founders posts about any new release. I tend to agree with them. I loved this one.
While this beer is not for me, I think it's always important to realize there's a section of the market that 'the public' belongs to that we, BA, as a group do not necessarily overlap with perfectly. BAers tend to heavily like 1 or more of the following styles (BA/pastry Stouts, BWs, IPAs, (fruited) sours). It's not that we don't love lots of random beers, but it's not the same as your 'average' consumer. I tend to follow what you're saying and believe with relative ease that, no doubt, the average consumer likes this beer (way) more than the average BA. So, I'm not surprised to hear that some people asked for this.
Their BA IPAs on the other hand? Fuckin a. Who drinks that garbage.
