This is big news for the people of las Vegas. I think sometime by December they should start distro. Just thought I would let all the beer geeks of Nevada know

Damn! Congrats. They just need to spread a little farther west, as in The Pacific Northwest.

They are also starting distribution in northern Cali, so that's one step closer!

Makes sense. Not alot of good beer being brewed in NV as far as I'm aware. With all the tourists who know their beer, Founders should do well in Las Vegas. I wish I could get some in CO. I'm going to miss Breakfast Stout.

I want Bell's more, but good for Nevada. It will be nice going to Whole Foods and finding 2-year old Imperial Stout.

Nice! Excited for this. Have had to drive down to Phoenix to find bottles to bring home. Now just need some more Colorado breweries distributing here like Odell.

Not gonna lie, I hoarded the crap out of some bells when they showed up for gabf. Glad I went out of my way for them.

I was in Western NY that week, and wasn't sure what to bring home with me because I knew Bell's was going to drop back here. I know a shop near Buffalo where Expedition is a shelf turd (actually, a cooler turd), and they have July 2014 Expedition. I saw a tweet from Mile High that they'd gotten Expedition, but were selling it by the bottle, one per customer. So I said 'eff it', and brought back 2 sixers of the '14 Expedition. Holy shit, that beer is good. I have to say it's probably my favorite imperial stout, barrel-aged or not.

I've gotten some Best Brown and Amber since I've been home, and those are good brews. I think that Bell's has a really large catalogue of beers, maybe bigger than Founders, and so I hope they move into CO first. I'm kind of souring on coffee beers, and really could care less about Breakfast Stout. The first time I had it, it amazed me, but I picked up a 4-pack on my trip, and found it a chore to drink. I guess I've had one too many bad coffee beers, and they have killed my enthusiasm for the good ones as well.

For everyday flagships I'd take Bells. For special beers, Founders by a mile. Just depends on what you want I suppose.

Im not a fan of founders hoppy beers. What I have had from bells seems to eclipse what founders puts out. As for stouts, fbs and expedition are too different for me to compare really, as they are the only examples I have had from these guys I cant speak for which brewery has the better stout. I feel like expedition is somewhere between yeti and fidy, while fbs is big coffee and chocolate.

I would agree with that. I did a side by side on their specials. I agree with SFACR, I don't love their hoppy beers either. But special brews and seasonals are divine.

Having spent the past year living in a state with both Founders and Bell's distribution, I think I would have to choose Founders. I agree with Domingo's take (re: flagships vs special beers) but I simply having access to Breakfast Stout would be enough for me.

I do have to say, though, that I like more offerings from Bell than Founders.

I could care less about whales that maybe appear 5 minutes out of the year, so the top three from Founders (and Black Note) are irrelevant to me. I care more about the 6-pack offerings than the specialty beers. One big advantage of Bell's is that I believe all their beers are 4 or 6 packs of 12 oz bottles. Some are pricey (Expedition is ~$20), but a lot of the Founders special releases are 750's that run around $15-16, and a lot of those are destined to be shelf turds. I like Founders Porter and Imperial Stout as well as Dirty Bastard, but would rather have Expedition on hand, as well as Cherry Stout (guess I'm in the minority in loving that beer). Bell's also brews lagers, and although I haven't had any, I'd like to give them a try. I like the Bell's English yeast profile a lot, and also appreciate the fact that they bottle condition their beers.

I'll take Founders any day of the week over bells. I bought a bunch of 2 hearted while it was here. It just didn't have that wow factor it use to habe for me.
Love All day, reds is really good. Double trouble is great.the porter is one of my favorite regular porters, I probably would only put Eddie fitz over it. The imperial stout is also excellent. As far as BA stuff goes it's not even close. BTW redankulous was one of my favorite beers at GABF.

But it's all preferences anyways. I definitely prefer Founders. Both are great breweries.
