You could even turn it into a documentary -- "My Dinner with Alvey" is worthy of a bite, no?

And the indiegogo is over. Did you all see two people bought dinner with Alvey? I guess both of his parents get to go.

Also, did no one catch how he contradicted himself in the City Pages article? http://blogs.citypages.com/food/2014/04/four_firkins_fu.php First he states, "One, with increased buying power we will be able to offer more competitive prices." He follows this up with, "In Woodbury we will be required to purchase from different distributors than the ones that cater to the St. Louis Park area." Well if you have to purchase from different distributors, how do you have increased buying power? There are a lot of false claims put out by Alvey and his crew. Unfortunately, $40,000 means he still has the wool pulled over a lot of people's eyes. He must be borrowing sheep from his neighbors in New Zealand.

Increased buying power? Seriously? So are they telling us their prices are too expensive? Sounds like it. More importantly the average craft brewery doesn't give buying power to many stores the size of Four Firkins. Total Whine. Yes Small stores under 1,000 square feet. No.

The point is, the craft breweries don't have any power in prices it gives to the stores. It all comes from the distributors. And if they have to use different distributors on different sides of town, as he states, they will have no more "buying power" than they do now.

The whole project was a money grabbing sham... I'm guessing since they get to keep the money they have to uphold their "perks" they gave out?? Hope so, due to the differences between this and kickstart....If not, what a joke!!

Purchasing in bulk doesn't always come down to the distributors, the breweries may give separate deals to the retailer or they could co-op.

I would agree with your quote.

I agree. Although not sure sham is the word I would use. If that store is so successful, and Alvey is such a genius at small business, why did this project have to take place at all? His claim to be an ambassador of craft beer, etc., is all bullshit, as you can get almost any beer he has at most other stores in the metro area. Blue Max has been around forever, and you don't see them asking people to worship them or give them free money so they can make more money. The man-boy sure knows how to market, though. In my opinion, he just wants to be the closest store to WI, and he wants us to pay for it.

I'm shocked no one bid $5,000 for 5 hours of consulting by Avery on anything but running a liquor store. I would have asked him to help me with info on getting $41k from suckers on indiegogo. Also, FF kept updating their facebook and twitter with pleas to get them to their goal of $50k yet there is no thank you message from FF yet at either place. I guess FF is thinking up ways to get the remaining $8,500 without having to pay for it themselves.
