Fracking is a terrible idea. Unless you hate water, then it's pretty awesome.

Tell Ommegang to not listen to hysterical claims made by eco-wackos. 99% of geologists and nearly all petroleum engineers have concluded that hydraulic fracturing is a perfectly acceptable way to extract hydrocarbons from shale. It does not contaminate ground water; it does not cause earthquakes.

99% of all statistics that start with "99% of..." are pulled out of the speaker's ass.

I been making 100K + in the fracking and refining business for fifteen years plus and it is very safe and there is no manmade global or climate change going on.

I find it good practice to always trust the guy with centaur Obama as his avatar. Now please excuse me while I go fetch my tin foil hat.

Yes, but there are always accidents.
In one study of 200 private water wells in the fracking regions of Pennsylvania, water quality was the same before and soon after drilling in all wells except one. The only surprise from that study was that many of the wells failed drinking water regulations before drilling started. But trucking and storage accidents have spilled fracking fluids and brines, leading to contamination of water and soils that had to be cleaned up. The fact that gas companies do not always disclose the composition of all fracking and drilling compounds makes it difficult to monitor for injected chemicals in streams and groundwater.

I don't care if there is a low permeability formation between an aquifer and the formation being fracked, you don't know where the fractures are going to propagate or how far. You don't know what existing fractures will allow methane to migrate or what fracking fluid will do to lubricate and activate existing faults that you may or may not even know are there. Geologic models are just representations of the best data available. They will always be incomplete. Whats going on beneath our feet is far more complex. I don't disagree that fracking works the majority of the time or disagree that injection wells are a viable option, but there are so many variables that we will never be able to account for. Any honest hydro dude will agree.
