Wow,just discovered this thread. I lived in Bayreuth for quite a while, so I know all of these. And though Pils is not my favorite style, some of these I still liked. A few thoughts:

The Lindenhardter Pils was labeled "Lindenhardter Vollbier" for quite a while, but they changed it:wink: But yeah it was a very hoppy Vollbier Hell. But it sometimes was sour. Their beers were very inconsistent in quality. Their Dunkles called Landbier was sometimes very sour and murky.

Becher Bräu is a very good brewery in my opinion. Very underrated. Their Original is a nice, soft, amber lager, from bayerischer Anstich, better as some beers in the fränkische Schweiz:wink: I never cared much for their standard pils though-but their unfiltered Kräußen Pils is a VERY nice summer beer. And the beer he makes for his father's pub may be one of my favorite Dunkles-Mann's Bräu Spezialbier Dunkel.

I could write something about every beer and every brewery. But I think that would be a bit much.
Though one thing I won't agree with you with- their are not same-y to me, they are all very different and all have a unique character. Ok,when you drink them in tiny amounts and directly after one another, it may appear like that. But when you get to know them "better" and "live" with them:wink:, they open their real character.

Sadly, Bayreuth itself is kinda dominated by Maisel/Aktien,so most of the time you'll find Aktien Pils there in pubs(but also Aktien Zwickl and Landbier,so it is not all bad).
Glenk is also often aviable vom Faß, as well as some others.

Wow, this looks TOTALLY DIFFERENT from how I got this beer from the brewery inn itself, from the Mann's pub and from bottle.
I remember this to be yellow and very cloudy, not golden at all.
Was it an old bottle, and: Did you try to leave the yeast out while pouring on puprose?
Also, the description sounds like a totally different beer as well. But the bottle is the same:slight_smile: Weird.

If you got it on tap and it had still yeast in suspension; then yours would've been cloudier and you would've gotten a noticeable flavor of the yeast. In the bottle, any yeast settles almost into a hard cake at times, and yes, it's quite a different beer… in fact, it's the beer minus the yeast. I see the exact same effect, and that I mean the difference between the beer sold on tap and the beer sold in the bottle, at Braustil. Their Helles is noticeably different in the bottle than what comes out of the lager tank. This isn't weird; this is normal in unfiltered, unpasteurized beer.

I also had Kräußen Pils several times fresh in bottled form, poured with yeast, and it was pretty close to the draught version...
Maybe it is just a question of age?
