I've got two of the Cocoa-Nut (along with a PBJ, Vanilla and regular). I don't see much benefit in aging the regular one, and haven't tried Vanilla. I did taste PB&J and Cocoa-Nut at the brewery. The PB&J I think is fine to drink now. The Cocoa-Nut though was pretty hot...lots of alcohol, and not much toasty coconut. Guys at JA said no more than a year, but it definitely seemed like this could use some mellowing. Has anyone tried aging this variant?

It looks like this beer made its first appearance in February, based on untappd and BA entries. Based on that information, no one would have had the chance to legitimately age this variant yet. I do have a bottle, have not tried this beer yet, I plan on opening mine at the next bottle share.

Just a thought about mellowing and aging. I understand sitting on a beer to let it mellow out, let the booze subside, however the heat is not the only characteristic that will mellow out. Often you are sacrificing desirable flavors and characteristics to mellow out the booziness.

If Jack's Abbey said "no more than a year," I'd listen to them.

I've had the Cocoa-Nut, Coffee, Vanilla, PB&J, and the regular BA Framinghammer. Its a thin porter. Age will suck the life out of these. They're all drinkable fresh.
