Has anybody tried these beers? I saw one on tap last week but th keg had just died. http://www.aol.com/video/german-bee...aing-grid7|maing10|dl14|sec1_lnk3&pLid=243603
Found them on here a while back. haven't had any of the beers, but on the whole the place looks promising (confirmed by the reviews lamenting the lack of bash-you-over-the-head-big flavors...an indication that the brewer is doing these styles right). Thanks for posting.
I have had several. Most are decent examples of the style, some are great, some are just off. Though that is pretty standard for most breweries anywhere.
I visited there last year...as a big fan of German styles, I thought they really did a nice job with their beers.
They are ok. A bit boring as previously stated. Their octoberfest was great. They are starting to veer away from German styles too with an oatmeal stout and a few others. Nothing to get super excited about, but solid German styles.
Maybe on one of my Texas trips in the future I can stop, or at least find some of that beer. If the beer is brewed to high standards and has the taste of a good German beer, it would not be boring in my book.
I have family in Texas that I visit. Unfortunately I have not had the chance to see Franconia Brewing beers in my travels (and believe me: I look!). I will look harder for Franconia beer next visit but unfortunately it appears that these beers are available only on draft. When I visit Texas I spend most of my time with family (in household settings) so draft beer is a ‘challenge’. There are other great German style beers in Texas: · Live Oak makes an excellent hefeweizen: Live Oak HefeWeizen · Uncle Billy’s makes a tasty Kellerbier that has won awards at the GABF: Hell In Keller (I just love that name) I recognize that Spoetzl Brewer (Shiner) does not get a lot of love on BA but I enjoy: · Black Bohemian Lager (a Schwartzbier) · Oktoberfest (2012 version) · Old-Time Alt Cheers!
