Interesting stuff coming out of Franconia. Read this release by Cafe Abseits specialty beer cafe in Bamberg about a new brewer, Binkert Brauhaus, and its Main Seidla. *This* sounds like the way any German "revival" should be done. Of course, it all comes down to whether or not the beers can hold up compared to "traditional" Franconian beers -- quite a tall order, but not at all unthinkable. http://www.abseits-bamberg.de/2012/09/main-seidla-amber-spezial-aus-dem.html Here's the brewery's Web site: http://www.mainseidla.de/unser-fraenkischesreinheitsgebot.html
I allowed myself a bisschen sarcasm. I think it's great, any level of experimenting is good to escape the Einhitsbrei and I think I have openly expressed my opinion on this topic many times. Just wondering what the Germans (and primarily the locals) have to say about this. Or do they care.
I plan to order some online once their site for ordering goes live, especially the dry hopped Amber Spezial.
Interesting. I guess this goes along with a post (maybe 5-6 month ago?) about dry hopping being essentially cleared by the Reinheitgebot. While not quite this bold, I've often thought of the Ambrausianum as being pretty progressive in this regard...for better or worse.
