I just brought home a case of Franziskaner. it seems to taste a bit off and the head retention is not what it should be. I heard that they were bought out by inbev recently. When this happened to Beck's I lost my go to Becks Dark due to a serious drop in quality and taste. My question is did anyone else notice a difference since the buy out or did I just maybe get a dated case? Cheers!

Spaten-Franziskaner has been part of AB-InBev for a while, so I suspect it's something that's happened to the beer between leaving the brewery and getting to you.

Becks did change massively about a year ago, even the label changed and no longer claimed to be brewed in Germany.

Isn't American Becks brewed in the USA now? I'm sure I heard that. The stuff we get in the UK is still brewed in Germany.

Possibly an out of date pack. AB-InBev tends to have very strict standards for their distributors, but some are better than others. Get a merchendiser into a store that doesn't care and rotating stock goes out the window. I would bring it back to the store and ask to exchange. Also make sure you are using glasses that are beer clean. No glasses straight from the dishwasher!

That was my first though... "Damn soap" but it continued even after rinsing and re-rinsing. Back to the store I guess

I picked up a six pack a few weeks ago, and it tasted the same to me as it always has. But my taste buds arent superb. Still one of my favorites.

I never liked anything made by Beck's. Especially their regular offering. Which was a sweet and cloying pilsner. Yuck.

Franziskaner remains one of my favorite hefeweizens, especially on tap. Banana-forward goodness!

I still enjoy a Franziskaner but not my fav hefe. I use to love Becks dark too one of my favs but it's brewed in America now and it just doesn't taste the same.
