I'm a local Frednecktonian. There are tons of breweries around Frederick County now, but not really high-end beers. Coming from Vermont, it can't compete and not much for top shelf NEIPAs yet (Attaboy makes a few decent ones). My recommendation for a Frederick visit would be to go to downtown Frederick and visit the White Rabbit Gastropub (currently best taplist in Frederick IMO) and Brewer's Alley which makes really high quality authentic English, Belgian and German beers. There is a parking deck right between the 2 establishments so they are really close. If the weather is good, walk up to Carroll Creek (about 5 min. walk up Market street from WR and Brewers Alley) and enjoy Doner Bistro that serves good quality German beers and nice views of the creek and people watching. Modeled after the San Antonio River walk. A short 5 min. drive north on Market street and you could visit Monocacy Brewing that I think makes the best American styles / experimental styles of beer in the area. That would be my recommendation. IM me if you need more info. and ideas.

I have to agree with @bubseymour suggestion for White Rabbit. They normally have a good selection of the premier local brews. Was there Saturday and enjoyed Burley Oak and Captain Lawrence beers. They also had two NEIPAs on tap from Cushwa out of Williamsport, MD. I'm likely biased but i think Cushwa is knocking it out of the park.

I'd put Attaboy Beer on my list. Not a far walk down Carroll Creek from downtown.

If you're looking for a good meal, you won't be disappointed with your options. There are a lot of great places, but we always end up at Lazy Fish (Ramen is fantastic) and Volt for a burger and cocktails.

...and don't forget the french fries! Seriously the best ever.

Side note: Sounds like I need to make it to Attaboy Beer next time I'm in Frederick.

Yes! We enjoyed a lobster roll with fries while watching the derby this past weekend. Fantastic time.

On a beer related note, Volt collaborated with Vanish to create a beer for behind the bar. IPA if i remember correctly.

Cushwa is quietly putting out some of the best beer in MD right now. Definitely worth the drive up from Frederick if you can.

Going to be visiting at the end of the month, excited to try the options in town! Cushwa seems to the top close-ish option but what about Adroit Theory and/or Vanish? Worth a visit also?

Vanish wouldn't be too far of a drive. I haven't been there in a couple of years but hearing good things.

Adroit is good and they have interesting beers.
