I tend to buy multiple bottles at a time so there can be some confusion at the register. One of those times, I got Life and Limb for free due to an error that neither of us caught. I got home, looked at the receipt and then found out I never got charged for it. Always feel slightly bad for not paying but it would have been ridiculous to drive all the way back and pay.

The evil half of me say's "Score!"

Sounds like a standup guy. I've definitely done that many a time as a bartender. Back when I didn't like beer.

Best story ever from today. My wedding is September 7. I was searching for a bottle or two of Bell's Wedding Ale. Then I found out it wasn't even brewed this year. I figured there was no way I could get any. Then nknauz messages me asking for my address so he can send two bottles as a wedding present. I'll have to figure out something to return the favor.

    Chive On.

Just got back from Maui where I visted the brewery. They keep all their short fill cans and rejects for the workers at the end of the week. My group struck up a conversation with some of the workers at the tap room and they were cool enough to give us a case of the short fills. Very nice guys, even if they hadn't given us free beer!

I was on a Horseback Camping trip up in the Banff National Forest two summers ago. We are many miles from civilization and at our second camp. I had been on the trip about 10 years ago and knew we were going to be near a lot of lakes and rivers so a friend and I packed small collapsible spinning reel set ups. After arriving at the second camp, my friend and our wives took off for the river to do some fishing. We had been fishing for about an hour and it was getting warm. We rounded a bend in the river and I saw a small little man made half circle rock damn coming out from the shore. Someone had built a little lagoon and had left 5 full cans of Kokanee beer floating in the little lagoon. The beer was ice cold from the glacial melt river water and it had been there for a while. The paint on the cans was worn off quite a bit from rolling against the rocks.

Needless to say, I drank two of the best beers I have ever had in my life. Yes, it’s a crap beer but I was thirsty standing next to a mountain river in Banff National Forest on a beautiful summer day when we happened to stumble upon ice cold full beers floating in the river that seemed to have been left just for us by the beer gods! Best free beer ever!

a couple summers ago right after graduating from school wound up working on paddle boats on the mississippi outside of St. Paul and at one evening some wedding party brought on cases of Deschutes Twilight and Mirror Pond for thier guests who apparently were all idiots because they left like 5 cases. I took probably a 12er before my manager told everyone that they were pretty much fair game at which point i took another case and a half. who doesnt love weddings?

My best free beer story: The beer is imprisoned. I release the beer. The beer is free. The beer loves me. The end. Cheers:wink:

Since I'm in the business I end up getting a fair amount of free beer. I try to pay it forward when I go out of town.. for example when I went to a kickass restaurant in Savannah I brought the owners some stuff they couldn't get there. The place was recommended to me by some of my brewery reps. Gave them the beer after we ate there and paid our bill, just to make sure they knew I wasn't looking for anything in exchange. They were shocked and really excited.

I love doing that kind of stuff!

Befriending bartenders, not being an asshole, and tipping well usually gets me some freebies (or at least deeply discounted libations) at my favorite watering hole.
