This Saturday afternoon the Edmonton Beer Geeks Anonymous are hosting the second Freeze Your Cask Off Real Ale Festival. I'm not affiliated with EBGA - I just attend their events. This will be my third cask event hosted by EBGA that I've attended. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself and I'm looking forward to Saturday. I love tasting different beers and comparing notes with other beer lovers.
Looking forward to it. We've doubled the amount of attendee's for this year; from 75 to 150, and it sold out real quick. I hope to have the final list of beers later today/early tomorrow, so I can finish the programme. Hope you have a good time!
Any thoughts on how it went? Good, bad? Things that could be better? At the peak, we had 150 people in the room, and for the first time we drained every single cask. Looking forward to the streetcars now, and the RAF in September.
My thoughts: I was there from door open until about 4 I think. I preferred this location to the previous Freeze Your Cask Off event. More room and it wasn't quite as loud - so good choice in location. As always - it's all about the beer. The tasting and discussing the beers. Some beers are better than others - but it's great to be able to try and compare. The breweries did a great job. I didn't try any of the food - but it smelled excellent. I don't have any suggestions. Just keep doing what you're doing. I really enjoy it. Best beer: The Dandy Jungle Bird sour. It seems this was not a widely held opinion - but I loved it. I haven't made it out to a street car event yet. Hopefully this year. I'll definitely be at the real al festival in Septemeber!
These EBGA events I find are always great; nice atmosphere / crowd and beer! Love the location too and the food partner.
