Surprised to see Fremont Dark Star cans sitting in The University Village QFC during the week of Christmas. Still haven't seen the cans anywhere else around Seattle going into final week of 2015.

Comparing the cans to the Bombers, I couldn't notice much difference. Some people swear the cans are better and the closest thing to draft. From a psychological standpoint, I prefer the cans because of long term freshness.

With this being my first winter living in the Pacific NW, can you provide your experiences with the Dark Star in can v bottle? Or any Porter/Stouts for that matter when comparing cans and bottles. (YeaI know this topic has prolly been beat to death). Thanks.

I don't taste much difference between bottled and cans either. Maybe the divergence increases as they both age?

I have seen cans at various Total Wine locations. In contrast to your experience, TW is the only place I have seen cans. Every QFC that I saw Dark Star at a couple of weeks ago, it was bombers only.

I saw Dark Star cans at Roosevelt Whole Foods and Safeway just today.

I've never bought a bottle of it so can't comment on a difference. I've only had draft and cans.

Appreciate info. Visited both Total Wine & BevMo in Northgate yesterday (Sunday) and they claimed to not have the cans yet. I try to hit up Total Wine in Bellevue and/or Lynwood, but haven't yet. Good to know on the Roosevelt Whole Foods because I've had tons of great luck there finding stuff. Never thought of visiting the Safeway in that area. Most definitely will start doing that.

While at Total Wine, I couldn't believe they still had Firestone Walker Velvet Merlin. Having left over stock of this caliber still surprises me coming from the Midwest, where items like this are tough to get.

BTW: The reason I didn't grab extra cans at QFC was because of heading to airport after I saw them (weight issue). I'd assume they still have them (price was $11.99 for 6-pack). Regardless, shouldn't be too difficult to find in Seattle area from what you all have posted thus far.
