@grantcty -- what were we just saying about Festbier brewed in the north of Germany?

I haven't been a big fan of Athletic beers.

Then again, I'm not a big fan of this year's SN Okto collab. Rolls of the dice.

Tucher Festbier is highly underrated. I never had it before but I saw it for $8.99 for the 4 pack which is cheap and I wasnt expecting much and it was one of the better festbiers I have had recently.

Another thing I noticed is that Dark O' the Moon (the one with the werewolf on the label) from the Elysian Pumpkin Pack was removed this year. Now its 4 of the other 3. I dont have a problem with removing it but at least replace it with something new instead of just doing 4 of 3. I think most people prefer the 3 of 4 variety pack format.

I wish I could definitively tell you. The HB Traunstein Festbier that I initially fell in love with was listed at bars as 6.3% ABV. I've also had draft beer listed as Fürstentrunk in later years. Fürstentrunk is the only Festbier on the brewery website and they currently list the ABV at 5.7. There are a bunch of various Traunstein Festbiers listed on different beer databases. Some stuff looks like standard human error. I don't know if there really are different Festbiers... and if so how many.

Their menu (if accurate) currently has them serving an unfiltered Reissdorf that they call Dröppche. Thought you might like the heads up.

    Thanks for the tip?

The only unfiltered Kolsch I have had to date was from Sunner.

The description of this beer on their menu is in German. Google translate yields:

“Our naturally cloudy Dröppche impresses with its uniquely tangy and fruity flavor and is particularly easy to drink. Brewed according to traditional Cologne brewing methods, our Dröppche deliberately avoids full filtration to preserve its natural, original taste and delicate aromas. The result? A refreshing yet characterful beer that enhances every gathering—whether in the pub, at home, or outdoors.”

    Reads tasty to me!!:beers:

    Prost!

I mentioned the Reissdorf because I remember you liking the unfiltered Sunner.

I tried this festbier last night. It had the typical cooked German lager flavor. Either from transport or pasteurization or both? Best by June 2026 so presumably canned in June 2025, so not that old.

I also got the Josephsbrau marzen and preferred it. Much fresher flavor.

DMS, probably. Flensburger definitely has its detractors.

Sadly, I was disappointed in Athletic’s Oktoberfest. I’m a big fan of their other offerings, but this one missed the mark in a major way. I’d be curious to hear from others who’ve sampled it.

What brewing company (and address) is listed for it? Curious who brewed it.
