Well regardless, we all know however it turns out it's not going to be as good as last years. I mean, statistics have proven this many times.

I'm definitely excited to try it though.

I agree with those reviews too, but would suggest they each are a “buy one can and done”

I like your point. We are getting local IPA/2IPA that are just days ago canned so fresh and some delivered straight from the brewery. This weekend i had Crop Circus, Ecgtogasm both canned just days ago, they were both just fantastic.

Tried Unmapped's wet hop IPA made with local hops. It is good but nothing worth traveling out of your way for.

chase chase chase:grin: 4 or 5 years ago I chased every wet/fresh hop I could find, had to try out every new IPA there was. Then After almost 30 years of being a IPA hop head burnout set in. Plus there was so many new IPA's that you couldn't keep up if you drank a 12 pack everyday. I still enjoy IPA's but there is so many good ones out there I don't chase them anymore. I came to the conclusion that these higher priced wet IPA's might not be worth the Higher price. I know the chase is part of the fun, it gives us something to talk/write about. The chase keeps us active in the sport (life) of beer drinking. The chase is a challenge too. I still chase thou lately the chase is for Bock, Double bock, Mai bock, plus a some what Oktoberfest and winter/holiday beers. The chase for bock is more of a challenge it seems. You can't give up chasing completely. If you do it's time to retire from the sport.

Well said. I prefer to look at beer as hobby vs a sport because I don't like to keep score.

I just sampled the 'Castle Danger Mosaic (Fresh Hop) IPA' for a Minnesota fresh hop selection. Lots of Mosaic complexity. I like it. Other tasting opinions are welcome. Price I paid is $17.99, plus tax, for a 4-pack of 16oz cans.

maybe not a fresh/wet hop. But I finished off a Junkyard galaxy IPA tonight. canned 10/10/17 They claim it's a west coast IPA. Slightly hazy in the glass. It's good beer. Would I buy it again? no Nothing wrong with it. Just not the perfect IPA for me. I don't think galaxy hops are for me.

no Hop Tun on the shelve. I bought some Indeed fresh hop. I had 2 cans of that tonight as well. Great beer thou I am not sure it's anything all that special. It's a great beer if you like single or mostly Mosaic hops. I like Mosaic hops, but I have noticed that single mosaic hop beer gets a little long in the tooth and boring after one or two. I am more into hop blends it seems if I am on a drinking session have more than 2 beers. Blends with Cascade Centennial, Amarillo seem to be the beers for me. Cascade might be my favorite hop.

Lake Monster Loonatick IPA with Minnesota hops. Reminds me a lot of Unmapped's fresh hop also with MN hops. Very herbal and spicy. Lake Monster is a bigger beer with a sweeter malt base.

I guess it depends what you expect. I'm really enjoying it, though I'll admit it isn't mind blowing. It's quite sweet and malty, actually, not what you might expect from a fresh hop beer, but it's good. Not worth $16 a four pack, not even close, but as a splurge I'm not disappointed.

Not going to suggest to anyone they are wrong for enjoying a particular beer but when I pay the premium these beers demand I do want that grassy/fresh profile and I want to clearly get the character of the hop used. This beer was seriously muddled to me.

Many didn't appreciate the Simcoe version of Wet from a couple years ago and while not on par with the Citra version I thought that beer delivered on both counts.

This year has been a fairly weak class of wet hop beers in my opinion. Indeed was barely distinguishable as a mosaic beer but gave me the "fresh". BrooDoo was sweet and muddled like Wet. Harvest was good but not great (barely any nose). Born Yesterday tastes like a really good & balanced pale ale but lacks the fresh hop punch. Castle Danger so far seems to hit the notes the best....

Of the three Mosaic Fresh Hop MN beers I have had I would rate:
    1. Castle Danger Mosaic IPA
    2. Indeed Fresh Hop
    3. Surly Wet

I only bought one four pack of each and did not feel compelled to buy another of any of them especially at the Castle Danger price. Who do they think they are? Surly.

I will Take Fresh Drekker Ectogasm every 2 weeks. This IPA is fresh enough for me. Forget the local wet hops.

Have to say and IMO that was a dark malty hop mess.
