Anyone know of a good place to get fresh Laguanitas on the eastside of Michigan (the Macomb/Oakland area). There are a lot of stores with good beer but it's pretty haphazard in terms of freshness for this brand.
Probably depends on the specific beer you're looking for. Try the usual suspects--Holiday, Champanes, 8 Degrees.
fresh is key with Lagunitas. I love Sucks and a Little Sumpin Sumpin, but the drop-off is extreme when these age.
Is Maximus any good? I had it for the first time last night on draft and it was total garbage. Might have been an old/bad keg though.
i'll get back to you on that in a couple hours. I've never had it but have a bottle in the cooler for later.
The Red Wagon Wine Shoppe is usually very good about their beer. They have two locations at Rochester & Auburn, and 15 & Livernois.
Yes, fresh Maximus is very good. Another quality beer from Lagunitas. Drinking one right now and really enjoying it.
I have two bottles of a Little Sumpin Sumpin. The empty one if held in the proper light and angle I can see the date. The full one is impossible to see. What a farce on bottle dating. I love this beer but it is a disgrace on how they bottle date this.
The Maximus, IPA, and Sumpin, also undercover that any store got in should be very fresh. The distributor has been running out of beer so often that it has to be. The bottles are Julian dated, first 3 numbers are days into the year it was bottled.
