haven't tried wormtown yet, but i agree that lunch isn't really up to zoe's level (or to the level of its demand, at least for my tastes). i'd be glad to stock up on it and send it out to trading partners if i see it fresh, but for personal consumption i'd likely grab a hoptimum (or several other similar hop bombs) instead.

    Wow. That's why I don't buy MBC.

For a regular IPA... Completely unbelievable.

Bukowski's is a little high normally but that price is crazy.

Yeah I like to try all their beers once when they come out, but that's it. Haven't bought one of them twice because of the price. And if I was charged that for Lunch at Buks I'd be flat out insulted. For a cash-only place, I would think the prices would be a little lower.

Plenty of blame to go around for this overpriced beer: starts with MBC charging a kings ransom for their kegs (since Peeper goes for? 140/sixtel wholesale) you can only guess what a sixtel of lunch goes for....maybe 180?

Then throw in the published-price BS that exists in MA (which only exists to protect wholesalers / sales reps built -in profit margins...less any retailer has the GALL to cut a deal & sell it for less) .

Then you have a retailer like Buk's who notoriously makes huge profits on keg beer....I cant say I 'm surprised we are getting $12 glasses of IPA. Throw in the no happy hour rule & u realize how the beer consumer in MA gets screwed.

I say this after picking up a mix 12-pack of Sam Adams IPA for $11.99 today in NH @ Market Basket & $2.99 pint bottles of Weihenstephaner Vitus, IMO one the best beers in the world.

FYI Had 2 pints yesterday at great lost bear in Portland. Server said that it had just been tapped in the last couple of days. I believe it was $5.00 a pint. That stuff was awesome.

Ooooph. That's definitely more a product of Bukowski's than anything, though. I had a couple at Atwood's last Sunday and I'm pretty sure I paid $8 for 12 oz.

I would be in this camp as well. Be Hoppy is a tremendous local IPA. I prefer it for its price, availability, and local connection. The taste is right on par with Lunch if you like a big citrus bursting well balanced IPA.

Lunch has been $7 for a 12 ounce glass at Novare, if it really is $5 a pint at the Bear that is awesome....since that's cheaper than the pint sized bottle.

Anyone know if this latest batch will hit the shelves in New York ? Saw it here once a few months ago, but have not picked up any as of yet.
