So, I've seen many people here saying how bells two hearted when on tap and fresh is amazing. Now while I have yet to enjoy this magnificent IPA on tap I actually prefer that when i buy a sixer the bottled date is two months old. Don't get me wrong now...I've also had a 4 month old bottle that was almost a drain pour.
I just recently had an Apr 4th bottle date and was surprised by the bite it had. Just seems the older ones are so creamy and balanced. I would love to hear if anyone feels the same way as I do.

Not ideal. April 4 is not optimum. Here in AZ I can find Two Hearted within 10 days of bottling (well, whenever the shipment cycle is here. otherwise I don't buy)

I do not - I love it within the first month of bottling.

Yeah, I'd really like to try super fresh. I've never seen anything under a month old.

I've had a two month old sixer and I noticed no difference between its ten day counterpart. Both were excellent. This goes for most IPA's I've had, especially Sierra Nevada's IPA's.

And I can never find it that fresh in Indiana. Sigh. I'm lucky if it's under 30 days old. It's on draft damn near everywhere in town so I pretty much only buy cans now anyway.

If you are not sitting under the tap as the kegs are brewed you ain't shit.
WTF boys & girls, we love this beer 2 days old, 2 weeks old, 2 months old , 3 months old, 5 months old.... it is a great beer. -as are many that we talk about in this forum.
    Stop the f***ing nonsense.

It isn't "f***king nonsense" here @Brback . And no, I don't love this beer at 3 months, 5 months, etc. I've loved this beer since the late 90's and there is a big difference between one week old and several months old.

Please, do us all a favor and buy up all that 3 and 5 month old IPA that you love. Leave the fresh stuff for someone else.

Please people...stop buying IPA's that are over a month old. If collectively we can do this then they will cease to be sitting on the shelf. Pretend every beer you see is an Enjoy By that should be discounted after the 30 day mark. This will be best for all of us.

I used to get a sixer or two every now and then a while back, smuggled in from MI. It was piney and citrusy, and reminded me of Stone IPA. Flash forward to last summer, when fresh cans became the norm in NYS, and it's a whole different ballgame- I never experienced that floral quality before then. It's a whole other level of better- I'd definitely take it as fresh as possible if I had the choice.

To expect 10 day old canned or bottled beer in the wide range of Bell's distribution is almost absurd. I'm sure it can happen, and that if you know the right retail outlets, it is achievable. But to openly purport that 2 month old Two Hearted is dated and dead meat is also absurd. I have a fine palate, but I'm not signing on with that group of IPA heads that need it packaged yesterday. Beer distribution is not a science or an art, it is tough, hard work. I've had 1 year old Meantime IPA that was amazing.

I see really fresh 2hearted cans at my VA total wine all the time, often <10 days. I'd still buy it ~2 months old.

I bet they put 20x as much into bottles as cans, maybe even more. It's still a really good beer in 4 month old bottles, but if you're seeking fresh check out the cans.

I just had a 2 month old and got the same creamy balance the OP spoke of. Although the overall taste/bite was somewhat subdued, I still loved it!

Just had a can i found in my golf bag from last summer. Sat around for at least 7 months. It was still awesome. Can't believe it could taste so great after so long.

    Please Biff. Just don't.
An IPA at 30 - 45 days out is perfectly fine, and is actually the closest to what the brewery probably intended of it.
