I'm usually encountering Two Hearted with at least a month on it - I doubt I've had it much fresher than that (maybe once with two weeks on it?), and I've had it with maybe as much as 2-3 months on it, though I like it much more in the 1-2 month range than the 2-3 month range  - had the cans, too, but I wasn't as impressed with the difference as some seem to have been. But I will say that I've never had it where it tasted bad, but I've also never had it much past the 3 month mark. It's available enough now that I will buy something else that's fresher when I see it that old.

Fresh or not at all is my credo.

I can get this two weeks old most of the time, my cut off is a month as with any IPA.

If you live in/around Chicago and your normal places don't have Two Hearted in cans you need to make Binny's your normal place.

I don't think I've ever had a Two Hearted less than 2 months old and I think it's pretty great. :astonished: Right now I'm drinking a 3 month old Surly Overrated and it's fine to me.

Two Hearted is definitely best fresh. It fades quickly with age.

I moved from Indiana to Michigan about a year ago. Went out to eat, only beer worth ordering was Two Hearted. It blew me away. Bottle date was 5 days old. Tasted worlds apart from when I'd had it in Indiana. I'll buy it over almost anything else now when I see it under a month old.

So you prefer Two Hearted with 2 months on it, but you drain pour Two Hearted with 4 months on it? My head hurts.

yeah, that was my original question. I prefer two months and four months is too old. Also I stated "almost a drain pour." I could never bring myself to waste the nectar of the gods.

I brought a couple 6-packs of that home one time when I was in Chicago.
I drank it slowly over the course of a couple months or so, and I didn't find much drop off over the time.
That said, it was stored in my cool, dark cellar the whole time, until I brought it up to drink (maybe putting one in the fridge for the next day.) I made sure it did not get exposed to light or temp variations.
