Hey party peeps, I’m flying into FAT next month for a quick trip to Yosemite. What would be the best pit stop (brewery, bottle shop) to grab “supplies” on the way to the park?
Check out Southgate Brewing in Oakhurst CA on your way to Yosemite. I enjoyed their beers as well as their personal sized pizzas made to order. Nice atmosphere too.
I believe the market shop inside the park has a decent supply of bottles/cans in the cooler. Last time I was in the market they only had bombers available. That was a while ago. Enjoy Yosemite. We just got back from Utah’s Big 5 Parks including Arches and Zion. We also checked out Goblin State Park.
Looks good! I couldn't tell from their website if they had beers to-go. Do you remember if that was an option (and if so, is it bottles/cans? And/or growlers/crowlers?). Thanks!
Southgate is ok in my opinion. Oakhurst is not the best gateway town for beer. That would be Mariposa, the town on the highway 140 entrance. Unfortunately there was just another large landslide on 140 in the river canyon, so you can't enter the park through Mariposa. But if you wanted to do a detour from Oakhurst (about 40 min one way), there are two good beer bars there: The Grove House, and The Alley. The GH usually has a couple Russian Rivers on tap and some bottles to go, and several other very good taps.
Damn...any idea if 140 will be open next month? These two spots looks great as dinner/drinks options. I'm staying in Yosemite West, so these would be great and relatively easy if 140 is cleared up.
