I heard today that Greg Fretz of Phoenix Ale passed away last night. No matter what you think of Phoenix Ale beers you must admit the beer world will miss him and his positive upbeat attitude.

I was also saddened to hear this. I met him awhile back and he was very friendly and loved talking craft beer and put up with all my questions he had probably heard a million times before but he answered them all with gusto.

Super sad. My wife and I spent time chatting with Greg last May when we visited Phoenix Ale. Greg came across as a very nice guy and was kind enough to offer us a ride to sky harbor airport. I wish his family the best.

No time or place has been decided on yet but a celebration of Fretzy's life will probably be on June 2nd. The world lost a good one, not just the beer world.

There will be a wake/celebration/benefit for Gregory Fretz at the Phoenix Ale Brewery, Tomorrow, Saturday, June 1 beginning at 5 pm. All proceeds and a silent auction will go to his family. Turn out for this one.
