Have you ever been to a Firkenteenth? The one I went to I got there at maybe 12:30 or 1pm and the stuff tapped during the "day" session didn't start kicking until 4-5pm. So you don't really need to be there until later if you want to have some of both session.
I have been to one a year for the last 3 to 4 years and every one is a little different. We end up staying till about 4 pm and taste between 9-12 beers. Very fun event. Pay as you go. And if you like cask beer this event is for you. You might not taste 40-50 different beers like other festivals but you get a great crowd and awesome cask beer.
I came back to say that if you don't like crowds just go to the day session and get out of there by 5pm. It gets super crowded after 5pm.
