He usually doesn't like to try my beer when I'm around him but surprisingly asked me what he should try for his b-day. I said we could go to Total Wine and pick out 6 different styles and mix a 6. I asked him what beer he liked so far and he said King Kobra. Haha. Any suggestions? I was thinking: Sam Adams Boston Lager Some type of Pale Ale like SNPA Maybe a Brown Ale/Porter Stout Belgian Beer Prima Pils Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier What would you recommend? GA distribution recs please.
I had Fat Tire when I first started drinking craft and sort of liked it at first but don't really like it now. I thought Anchor Steam sucked, while everyone else likes it though.
brooklyn brown ale is quite good, otherwise it would be funny to give him a really big beer like an imperial ipa or a barley wine just to see his reaction, though that might make him not like beer as much haha.
I was thinking I might get 1 big beer just to see his reaction and to see what beer can taste like. But I want to start him off slow. Lol.
do a couple flavorful pilsners like the Prima Pils you mentioned or the now year-round Noble Pils. do some sort of hefe/witbier since those tend to be good gateways. an IPA or pale ale would be good if they focused on aroma/flavoring hops rather than bittering hops since the bitterness can overwhelm some newcomers. also, I have had luck with milder barrel-aged beers with people who have a liking of hard alcohol/cocktails. just make sure to warn him before hand that the beer is to be sipped like a spirit and not chugged like a king cobra.
What should I drink at my wedding? What should I bring to my girlfriend's bat mitzvah? What should I drink for the playoffs? What should I bring for my nephew's briss? What should I drink at my funeral? What should I drink when they elect a new Pope? The possibilities are endless...
A 40's mix-a-six = Colt 45, Mickey's, Olde English, St. Ides, Steel Reserve, and a King Kobra...sounds like the perfect 21st birthday !
