Good Day. So I got a little Colorado trip coming up in September. I will hit some of my usual spots like Denver, Fort Collins, and Boulder, but for day 1, I'm going to be staying up in the Frisco area. Just wanted to check out a mountain town area to mix it up a bit from my norm. After looking up some of the breweries in the area, I was hoping to get a little BA assistance. You can read as many reviews on yelp as you want, but I figured I'd rather hear opinions from people have been to some of these places and like beer as much as myself. I probably will not be able to go to all of these due to my flight arrival, but I was hoping you could rate these places 1-6, with 1 being the best. It could be based on the beer quality, which is most important, or just a cool place to hang out. I'm more of an IPA guy, but do love a good stout or porter. The only thing I'm not really into is the sours. So here is my list: Dillon Dam Brewing, Bakers Brewing, Pug Ryans, Outer range, Backcountry, and Broken Compass. My hotel is literally next door to Outer range, so that will be a definite stop. Thanks in advance for your feedback.
After going to Outer Range you probably won't want to go anywhere else. That is if you like hazy ipa's and/or belgians. Broken Compass is worth a ride to Breck for. I live less than a mile from Bakers and don't remember the last time I went there. Dillon Dam is worth a visit just because it's a staple in the area and for the nachos. I don't remember the last time I went to Backcountry or Pug Ryan's either which should tell you something. Hit up Kenosha in Breck for a solid tap list.
1. Outer Range 2. Broken Compass 3. Backcountry 4. Dillon Dam 5. Pug Ryan's I wouldn't say the difference between 1 and 5 drastic though. Haven't been to Baker's And if you like sausage and German beer, hit Prosit (not a brewery)
Backcountry used to be a lot better and lost their head brewer... At some point. They could be back in the running by now.
I knew there was a reason I got my hotel right beside Outer Range. Thanks for all the recon. I kind of had a feeling that the top 2 would be what you all wrote, so I'm not too surprised. I looked up both Kenosha and Prosit and one of them could be a possible stop for dinner.
Yes. There have been some interim guys but the current head brewer, Owen Sanders, is one kick ass mo-fo. He will do great things if given room, mark my words.
