Please forgive the growler-newbie question... I checked in with some places to get my hands on some Kane Third Reef. Most places with availability were bars, and many had already run out. The ones that had it were charging way too much, close to $1 per ounce. I finally found a place that serves at less than half the price, so I sprung. Upon getting there I noticed that the bartender was filling the growler directly from the tap, with no tubing or counter pressure. That said, he did do a good job filling with little to no foam. Plus, the price was right. I was hoping to drink my growler on Friday. I taped the cap and refrigerated it. Will it last 48 hours and still taste good, or should I be enjoying my Third Reef tonight instead?
Cheers to fellow NJ beer enthusiast! Yes was capped on foam. In my original post I meant he didn't leave too much head at the top, but kept filling and letting it flow over, eventually capping it.
That's some old school growler filling there. And was the mouth of the growler bottle held against (touching) the tap faucet as he was pouring the beer? Hope not.
Oh. All that c02 got very excitable being poured directly from the tap into a large vessel. On top of that. it's an overfill. I'm sure it'll be fine. But, do drink it quicker than not.
Thanks... I get the feeling that this place isn't used to filling growlers. Well reviewed as a bar, but saw nothing about growlers until I asked them on FB. Oh well, good beer at a good price...can't be that bad? Will drink soon to be safe.
