I consider these guys up there with the big boy NE DIPAs, curious what others think.

For me they're among the most crushable DIPA I have ever drank. Great mouthfeel, no rough edges, very juicy but not sweet. Not trying to say they are better/worse than anything else, but just in the same class as the more hyped high quality New England producers. Anyone agree?

i absolutely agree. lush is easily with the top NE dipas. just had a plush this past week and holy crap, it was one of the best beers i've had recently. it was soft, creamy, juicy, not to bitter, not to sweet. incredible color too, gotta share my picture, it's too beautiful a beer not to:

stopped in yesterday to the brewery at about 5pm, they had just barely sold out of lush, so i guess i'll have to go in next weekend (ho-hum ). i was talking with the brewer and he said he's been playing around a lot with their yeast, trying to dial it in to add the perfect amount of juicy out of the esters and then go from there with the dry hopping.

Awesome! Thanks for the info from the brewer and availability. That picture is perfect.

I don't think they're getting as much juicy out of the esters as say...TreeHouse, but on the other hand the Frost stuff is less sweet and rounder to me, making it more enjoyable to drink. If they were able to coax a bit more out of the dry hop and dial in the yeast I can imagine it can get even better.

I just went through a tasting of a lot of DIPA (sip, heady, Mettle, Abner, Double Dose...some others) and Lush/Plush were not the most hoppy or unique, but the most enjoyable to drink for me. As you said, "creamy, juicy, not too bitter".

They're doing great stuff. Loved Lush and then had IIPA Research Series #117 and was blown away by it. So juicy with stellar mouth feel. My kind of IPA!

Wanted to bump this thread up - saw a few of Frost's other offerings in a bottle shop in Vermont this past weekend. I'm regretting not picking some up at this point. How is the brewery/taproom on a Friday afternoon? Planning a trip in May and figured I'd like to add Frost to my list of stops. Thanks!

Frost is amazing but their space is so tiny, it's basically a hallway. There is no seating and the standing room can hold maybe 12 people total. Don't let that dissuade you from visiting, just don't expect a standard brewery drinking setting. It's totally worth trying their fresh offerings and their bottle selection is better than any other local store. I've heard rumors of outdoor summer seating but May isn't summer in VT so don't get your hopes up...

The taproom/ brewery is small, samples only. the staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. No need to worry about lines. it could be a nice stop between fiddlehead and Burlington beer company/ rt89

Thanks so much for the quick replies and insight. Yes, if I have time before/after Fiddlehead (I go there a few times a year), I will check out Frost.

Any chance of finding their stuff at hunger mountain this Friday?

Picked up Lush and also grabbed a bottle of the Black IPA last time I was in VT.

As a big fan of Black IPAs, I thought Frost's was really well done. Definitely worth a try if you're into that style.

I have not been to HM in the last few months, but every time I have been there in the past there has been frost stuff.

They're pretty well distributed now. Usually see a bunch of their bottles at HM, Mehuron's in waitsfield, Cbc in waterbury. Usually on tap at Blackback and Mad River Barn. Not sure if 3 penny puts them on draft much.

I've yet to try their stuff but heard great things. Not sure when I'll be in Burlington next so I here's to hoping we see some down in MA soon!

I should have mentioned I saw a few of their bottles (not Lush or Plush) at BBC in Ludlow, and that is what piqued my interest in bumping this thread up. I regret not picking up the bottles they did have.

It's great stuff. I liked Lush, and "Another IPA" was even better. Then I had Plush, which just blows Lush away in my opinion. That beer was amazingly good.

They had 1 weird batch of Plush. But twice it's been incredible and better than Lush. We had a HF Double Citra growler and then went out and had Plush on tap and the Plush still wowed big time.

Yes. I was there today and plenty of Lush/Plush and lesser known stuff was on the shelves.
