Has anyone brewed a beer using fresh local strawberries? If so what style would best highlight the strawberry flavor?

Most non sour strawberry beers I've had or seen have been Blonde Ales that let the strawberries shine.

Yeah, you definitely want it to be a light beer. Because it's hard to get much flavor out of strawberries. If I were to make one (but I never will), I would do a Belgian pale, or something sour.

The only strawberry beer I have had is this one. The base beer does not seem to be all that pale, and the strawberries were quite apparent. Still, I couldn't tell you how to make one like this, so I'd probably stick to a pale base beer.

Hell even a stout. The chocolate flavor can go with strawberry.

I made an American wheat with strawberries years ago. Most people liked it.

I think that this would work well. I remember reading somewhere (Radical Brewing?) that you get better blueberry flavor from cooked blueberries than fresh, but use them in a cloudy style so that the pectin haze isn't a problem. Maybe this would work with strawberries in a wit?
