Looking for a Bottle Logic Fundamental Observation (batch 4). Offering Transient Kentuckley 2017 and Central Waters 21. Would like to trade with someone close who could send out early next week. BM if interested.
I Googled this and nothing came up, do you have a link somewhere? I'm sure you probably didn't mean to bash this trade, but it would help if you did provide some kind of evidence if this is true. Not saying your wrong, just helps out people like me.
I never had a bad bottle of 2017 although I know the coffee was a bit green which can lead to some people thinking it's green appleish though neither I nor my friends from round the country found that to be the case: Also there are only 2 of the last 20 Untappd Check ins (which covers 12/18 & 1/19) that score less than 4.00 Disclosure: I have zero bottles of Kentuckley in my possession so I have no dog in this but it does annoy me a bit that a couple of palates have put the infected tag on a beer that clearly was not
What do you think when you hear green apples aka granny smith... sour. Theres zero reason any hints of sour should exist in a beer like this and I hope Transient brewing gave some refunds if asked. This is 3 reviews on 3 different dates so they werent shares. Anyways im sure the OP didnt realize this but damn still a good offer.
I hit up Transient about Brimley being infected and they never got back to me. Was a bummer. Traded for BA No Cake which was awesome and Brimley which had the making of a great barleywine but those green apple flavors overpowered everything else.
In the interest of providing another data point, the sole bottle of 2017 Kentuckley I opened was a tart, green apple mess -- huge on the aroma and very present in the taste. Pretty much textbook acetaldehyde (not an infection, per se, but not something you want in your BA Imperial Stout). Based on reviews and chats with friends, there certainly are/were plenty of good bottles in the wild though.
I have a bottle of 2017 Kentuckley acquired via trade a while back. Have not opened it. Many people around these parts laugh at 2017 Kentuckley. I don't know if it's because of green apple reports or because of how Transient absolutely killed the 2018 release with 3 of the best BA stouts I've ever had. I would think either of these bottles would land FOb4. In the end, I hope everyone is happy.
All the bottles I've opened have been fine, so I'm just going off of that. I'm aware of the Brimley infection, but hadn't heard of this Kentuckley one until now.
To be fair I've had beers that were very highly rated that were horribly infected. Sometimes some bottles are bad and at different rates than others. I've had a Fremont 3 Matt's and a CW 18 that were absolutely ruined by infection but not many bottles at all were infected from what I had heard.
