So, I'm headed down to Ft. Lauderdale on July 26 through the 29th, for a concert. I'm staying at the Courtyard By Marriott - Ft. Lauderdale East.

Besides staying at Funky Buddha for 5+ hours each day, any bottle shops I should hit up, to bring goods back to South Carolina? Looking to hopefully find some Due South and CCB stuff as well.

    Thanks!

The best bottle shop around there is probably Total Wine on Cordova Rd off SE 17th St. It's about 15 minutes from your hotel.

Another closer option is the ABC Fine Wine & Spirts on N. Federal Highway just North of Oakland Park Blvd, which is between Oakland & Commercial Blvd near your hotel. Less than 5 minutes away but you might not be enthused at their selection.

Lately Cigar City beers have been hard to find around Fort Lauderdale. Check the Publix on Commercial Blvd or the one on Cordova/17th if you go to Total Wine - they may have FL Cracker and/or Maduro but it could be very difficult to locate Jai Alai six packs around town. Make some phone calls to the various stores before you go shopping.

Good call planning to visit Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park. They keep adding more beers to the growler station, and they have a ton of great beers on tap.

For Due South, you will have to visit their Brewery in Boynton Beach or get them on tap at a local bar.

Some good bars to visit in Fort Lauderdale for local craft beer are Laser Wolf, Tap 42, Original Fat Cats, American Social and Riverside Market.

Total Wine... Guessing you'll have a rental car so you may want to try different TW's. Only thing you'll find on the shelves from CCB right now is Maduro, Florida Cracker, maybe Hotter than Helles, and Cucumber Saison. Jai Alai is pretty much impossible to find(fresh) in south florida right now. FYI there is a beerfest in Jupiter that weekend. http://www.jupitersummerfest.com/ Jupiter is an hour and a half or so north of miami. Due South doesn't bottle yet so you'll have to stop in there. If you go north for the fest you can also try Tequesta Brewing http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/24836

Awesome guys, thanks. I've been a Funky Buddha addict since Brewvival in Charleston, so I already know most of my time will be spent in the Orchard Park brewery. I will have a rental car, so I'll check out most of the area for sure.

Also, feel free to yell at me if any of you fellow BAers are at FB that weekend. I'll be there most of the weekend, in the South Carolina 2010 NCAA Baseball champs hat!

What's the other cross street of the Publix on Commercial?

Also, I definitely enjoy Laser Wolf. But, considering most of their taps are often pretty-easily-available stuff, I find it hard (in my limited time in South Florida) to pass up Buddha.

The Publix is at the shopping center at corner of Commercial Blvd and Dixie Hwy.

Lately, Laser Wolf has been getting some pretty good stuff on tap. For example, they just tapped Stone Wootstout. Also, they have a good selection of bottles including bombers of stuff that is hard to find at stores. A couple of months ago, couldn't find Jose Marti anywhere around town, but they had bottles of it there. Also, their prices are pretty reasonable for a bar, unlike say Tap42.

I love the guest drafts they have on tap at Buddha, and how they are all from different Florida breweries.

Laser Wolf does have really good bottle prices. And that other stuff is good to know, too. I haven't paid the closest attention to their tap lists lately, since I'm not in town that often.

Thanks again, gents for all the info. I've enjoyed the weekend here in Ft. Lauderdale, well except for the damn constant rain in the 'Sunshine' State. I've spent many hours at FB, great guys and great place. Got to speak an extended amount to both KC and Ryan about all things beer, met some great bar folks, had some great beer.

Even hit TW on Cordova for some crap my wife likes(Sprecher BB Root Beer or something).

The visit just reconfirmed what I already knew: FB is still my #1 brewer, and I'll most likely make another weekend flight down just to enjoy the brews.

Now, on to finding a BA'er local to this are, to trade Tuesday growlers with...
