So, turns out I'm an idiot, and my work isn't sending me to West Palm Beach. I'll be lovely "Weston" Florida for 12 days. With that said.... the beer options actually look worse than WPB (no Grease Burger etc .... that sucks)

Where do I want to go? Stuff within an hour or so would be ideal.

    Thanks.

Well Weston is a far western suburb of Ft. Lauderdale. Just get on I-595 heading east and you'll be right in the thick of things. Check out Google maps and come back here when you're ready and we'll fill you in on where to go. Many options!

Oh, and they are all within an hour, once you get the hang of the traffic and the lay of the land.

Easy drive east to Ft Lauderdale. New Funky Buddha brewery, laser wolf, tap 42 are all good options.

Also, the Mack House. I have never been but should be close to your location.

You must go to Laser Wolf. Tap 42 is a must as well. I love their food too at Tap 42. Both have great selections from South FL breweries so you can sample the lcoal stuff without having to hit every brewery. Depending on when your coming in both locations have numerous events. Just check their websites. And 595 is a fucking joke anytime around rush hour with all the major construction. FYI.

You're far from everything good, but still within an hour.
Delray/Boca is 45 minutes. Coffee District (sometimes bottle shares on Monday nights, let me know if you're interested), Due South, Funky Buddha Lounge (different beers from the main brewery in Oakland Park).
Ft. Lauderdale has what everyone else has mentioned.
Miami has some places, but it can be a headache. Abraxas, Lokal Burgers. People who live that far south can be more descriptive.

All the posters that mentioned Ft. Lauderdale forgot The Riverside Market. It's a quaint and great place with a exceptional selection. You'll enjoy a visit there, also, if you can find it. A hidden gem!

Don't even bother with Miami unless you're there on the weekend. The drive east takes long enough at rush hour without going south as well. If you're going north (Delray/Boca, etc), consider taking the Sawgrass instead of I-595 if you're driving between 5:00 and 7:00.

Laser Wolf is having a mead tasting on Thursday, but I think it's advance ticketed.

I'll be in town Aug. 29th to Sept. 9th, so I'll have plenty of time, a weekend, etc... Appreciate the recommendations, and a Monday bottle-share sounds awesome, just not sure If I'll travel with anything, so I don't want to show up empty handed.

    thanks again.

I am also going to be in Ft. Lauderdale Aug. 28th - Sept. 3rd. Any other recommendations for bottle shops in the area?

    Bottle shops in Fort Lauderdale:

Total Wine on Cordova Rd off SE 17th St
ABC Fine Wine & Spirits on N. Federal Hwy (just North of Oakland Park Blvd)
Riverside Market (SW 12th Ave, in a residential neighborhood off Broward Blvd)

Whole Foods Market on N. Federal Hwy also has a decent bottle selection

Sometimes you can find stuff at Publix grocery stores as well

I hear the LoKal is a good spot. I haven't made it down there yet because sometimes with traffic from Fort Lauderdale to Coconut Grove, it can take like an hour.

Just to give you an idea of distances from Weston, you are about 30 minutes to the bars in Fort Lauderdale (Tap 42, Riverside Market, Laser Wolf, Fat Cats, etc), 35-40 minutes to the Funky Buddha Brewery in Oakland Park, about 50 minutes or so to Coconut Grove (suggest going on a weekend and/or avoiding rush hour at all costs), and around an hour to both Coffee District in Delray Beach and Due South Brewing in Boynton Beach. Have a good trip!

my parents have a place in north miami beach and i do most of my damage at the total wine in aventura/nmb. its probably a 10-15 ride from fort lauderdale.
was at a good craft bar over in FL when we went to check out the EV solo gigs in november, was called fat cat's. didn't have tons of options, but the price was definitely right

Fat Cat's in downtown Fort Lauderdale is pretty good. They have live music and a decent selection of craft beer. Beers are only around $5 or $6 apiece, which is cheap compared to other bars around there. They have Due South, Cigar City, Funky Buddha and others on tap as well.

Some of these drive times I see mentioned have to be peak time/rush hour. Just last weekend, I drove from Miami (South Miami, at that) to Boynton Beach in one hour flat. Weston to Coffee District or the Buddha? If 595 and 95 are smooth sailing, that drive's no big deal at all.

Thanks for all of the tips! Looking forward to try some new beers that I don't get in Washington.
