Disney has been axed for the beach. What places are preferred by local BA's? We are staying on Okaloosa Island so, hitting both Ft. Walton and Destin will be no problem. So far, I've been able to find Chans, Beach Liquors and Tapworks all look good. What do you prefer and why? Any special local laws I need to be aware of?
Also, good family places to eat would be greatly appreciated. The Old Bay Steamer is directly across from the Condo's we are staying at. Is it any good?
Old Bay Steamer is good, it's basically just a big pot of low country boil they dump on your table. Huge amount of food, good for groups or families. Expensive but that's because it's a big mess of seafood. Beer selection is awful. Chan's is the first place I hit every time and has a great selection. Props is a brewery on the other side of the FWB bridge that's decent. Boshamps usually has a couple locals on tap and good food. Most restaurants have a pretty poor beer selection, so I usually just stock up at Chan's and drink well on the beach or at the condo. Chan's has a bar attached that has a good beer selection. There's a Airstream trailer somewhere near the harbor walk that focuses on craft called The Other End. McGuire's is a goofy Irish place that brews their own beer and serves enormous portions of everything, they're on the Destin side of the bridge near the harbor walk.
