Has anyone seen this in DC Metro area yet? No one seems to know much about it

Still looking for this. No one has heard of it. Even the places that sold their Top Sail Bourbon Barrel Imperial porter. Lots of nostalgia with this beer for me. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I can fully relate to you on the nostalgic value of this beer... my first legal summer I went to the Portland Brewfest with my uncle who lives out there. He introduced me to craft beer and full sail was one of the breweries we visited. And to this day it remains my favorite. I just received 4 bombers of black gold in the mail from my Uncle.

black gold is some tasty stuff.

i heard some rumblings that it should be hitting NY right about now.

From what I can tell, it appears State Line has it right now. It's a bit hard to understand some of the abbreviations on their site, but I assume the Full Sail Bourbon Barrel Stout likely refers to the Black Gold. It's priced at $13.69, which sounds about right, given the price I saw for it in Portland last time I was out there.

If it's available at State Line, then more than likely it's available at other Md. stores closer to the DC metro area. Might be worth a call over to Chevy Chase (or Fishpaws) to see if they're currently carrying it.

I bought a bottle at Total Wine in Laurel, MD last weekend.

I could be wrong but I thought that I read somewhere that they dropped Black Gold from the name and are just calling it Bourbon Barrel Stout now. I'll try to find a link.

I think I saw this at Old Line in Beltsville yesterday.

I've got it, provided it is indeed the same as the Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout.

This beer is OVERRATED. I paid $17.99 for a bottle up the street in Montgomery County and was thoroughly disappointed.

Maybe the OP doesn't feel that way bluewolf17. I confess the last time I had it, I was a bit underwhelmed as well, but we all have different tastes, and for whatever reason, the OP wants to obtain some.

That being said, $17.99 for a bottle seems like a very high price, but then again, you did mention that you obtained it at a bottle shop in Montgomery County (which would tend to explain the high price, from what I've heard about beer prices in M. County). That would likely add to my sense of disappointment as well.

Completely true. I knew when I walked into the store I was going to pay more than I should. However, it has one of the better selections in the area and is half a mile up the road (convenience goes a long way).

But still, all that aside, I was highly disappointed. There are many better barrel aged beers out there.

Those are bourbon county variant prices. I was looking for this beer aggressively and wouldn't pay that price for it. I was able to get 4 for $13 a bottle from State line. A student of mine bought a case from them on the way to DC.

It was the first Bourbon Barrel aged Stout I've ever had, and while it's not close to the best, I like it, and it brings back memories of a trip to visit my brother in Oregon a few years ago.

I've been disappointed with every beer I've ever bought in Montgomery County.
