Great beer but lots of great beer to choose from. Nice time to be a beer lover. Question, does the 11 oz size bug anyone else like it does me? I tried the beer this weekend and really liked it but will probably not buy again till a 12 oz version is produced. Anyone else feel this way?

The "Stubby" bottles on the West Coast have been 11 oz. for nearly 80 years, since their creation as a "No Deposit - No Return" glass bottle alternative to the beer can in the mid-1930's (below Olympia - one of the earliest and longest user of "stubbies" - " © 1935" ):

Just think of it as an 11 pack of 12 oz. beers. There won't be a 12 oz. version.

One of my favorite camping beers though the new cans of Caldera Lawnmower Lager at 3.8% alc is taking over( and only $6.19 a sixer..that's as cheap as Bud Sh*te up here.
I liked the 11 oz as if you are a summer outdoor enthusiast you probably know that last oz is pretty hot and yukky anyway!

I believe the Full Sail Session bottle was in homage to Oly.

I'm not bothered by it, but then I generally look at it as half of a bomber, which is what I often will drink if I'm pouring only one beer in the evening from a bomber and saving the other half to drink the next night. So with the 11 oz bottle I don't have to worry about re-capping or loss of carbonationi from one night to the next.

I think this thread should be about beer that serve a less than 12 oz. bottle. I won't say that I think its bs that certain beers come in 11.2 oz bottles because this thread unfairly makes a point of hating on one brewery who by the explanation above isn't doing it to be a rip off, but as a tribute. I clicked on this thread because I like Full Sail. Their are far larger villains in the war on the 12 oz bottle…an axis of power so to speak!

I buy this more and more as an easy drinking beer that tastes, well, like "just a beer". I always thought the bottle was an homage to Lucky Lager. They even have a game under the caps. It's the one beer I prefer to drink from the bottle.

I like 11 oz. beers. They remind me of being somewhere with a hot climate: Fiji, Jamaica, North Australia

Not a great example on all malt American lager. Pretty shitty actually. Kona Longboard slays it

No and you will never drink it again if you are waiting for 12oz, so I suggest you get over it.
They have been doing this since they created those Session's

It bugs me a little too, but it's customary for beers in the import section to come in the 11.2 oz size. I don't know why the slight difference but it is something I notice and take into account when I am buying imports. So why not full sail? They can do an 11 oz bottle if they want to. (one of these things is not like the others)

Bothers me to the point I don't buy it. It's a marginal lager IMO - can buy numerous other lagers I like more than FS's "11-packs" despite the cute packaging in the stubbies. I like the dark a bit better, but still the smaller package size makes me look elsewhere.

It makes no difference to me; sixers of this can be had for $5.99 in my neck of the woods, which is pretty damn reasonable even though I'm technically losing half a beer due to smaller bottles(oh noez!).

Anyway, as others have mentioned, the last ounce of a beer like this never seems to be the greatest anyway. As for the quality of the beer itself: it's just a really easy to enjoy, solid pale lager. If you're too OCD to get over it, well... more for me?

The 11.2 oz. is what the standard 330 ml bottle in Europe converts into when you go from metric to those antiquated units we like to use.

Jesskidden can give more insight as to why the stubbies are 11 oz. I do know that bottle manufactures have molds that get used for bottles that are sold to different customers.

    You are correct:

Welcome back, little guy. After Olympia Brewing’s beloved stubby bottles disappeared off the shelves for good in 2003, Full Sail Brewing recognized an opportunity—and leapt at the chance to fill a precious void in the consciousness of Northwest beer lovers with the advent of its Session Lager.

“We had talked about doing a stubby bottle ever since we’d heard Olympia was going to close,” says Full Sail’s executive brewer Jamie Emmerson. “We talked about it because of the following, and because of that nostalgic view.”

    from http://www.fullsailbrewing.com/news/the-beers-of-summer.cfm

The molds for the bottles are the same ones used for Olympia's stubbies. I had been told a story that Full Sail found out about a warehouse full stubby bottles left over from when Oly stopped bottling stubbies and bought them for cheap but have never found anything to confirm that.
