Jeeze -- I'm sure I drank one or two of those in '97 or '98!

Yeah, I noticed similar "asking prices" when I recently gave a friend of mine a 1999 bottle of Thomas Hardy's Ale and wondered what they were going for on the "secondary market". I'd heard of * but never really investigated it. According to that site, some Eldridge, Pope THA 1990s vintages had recently sold in $30-60 range -and asking prices for some not yet sold bottles were even higher, like 4 of the smaller [250ml] bottles, 1990, for $240. :grimacing:

My reaction: "People are really paying those prices?"

Geez, I've got quite a few Fuller's 1998 Vintage Ales left (w/gift box ) - I'd gladly let a couple go at Fuller's price of £237.60 (or whatever that is in 'Murican Dollars:grinning:) - damn, I'd round it off to £235.*

    * Not an actual offer.
Yeah, I seem to remember '97 being sold in the US - IIRC, though, the gift box that first year in the US was beige, not the standard maroon one that came later (and is shown on the Fuller's page). I might still have one left.

EDIT- Well, that was easy to find (the empty box, anyway - my spreadsheet shows I have 1 1997 left - now where is that...).

I'm missing '97, '98 & '01. Over 50 bottles in the cellar plus all the Brewers Reserves

Is the price hike recent? I was pretty taken aback by them when I went to the Griffin brewery on Wednesday. They're even dearer at the brewery shop too, presumably as a bit of a Summer-time tourist trap.
FWIW 8x Old Burton Extra for £18 is a bargain too.

I bought a few bottles of Thomas Hardy's as my "mortgage bottles" back in the early '90s... "paid off" the mortgage when I sold the condo, but never drank the beers...they're still boxed up in storage. The mysterious part is that I can't recall if they were all one vintage or a mix... :astonished:<---- Hmm.

Ooh I've got a couple of the Fullers 2008 somewhere, and some of Hardknotts 2011 Aether Blaec and Granite. Sadly my THA stash is a bit weedy.

Moved home yesterday, and delving into my beer stash. Looks like the £32 I paid for 12 assorted vintage ales (2005s-2012s) in 2013 (from the Fullers website) was a pretty good investment.

Was down in London and went to the brewery on the day this thread was posted actually. IIRC they hiked 'em on the 15th when the 2015 VA e-mail went out. Went there to pick up some 2013/2014, but obviously didn't once I saw the price. The real kicker is that they were doing a multi box of twelve 14/13/12 bottles this year for less than £35.

I love Fullers, but the price hike is criminal.

That's me buggered then. Got an 1987 (or earlier) for £1 in a junk shop on the Isle of Wight at Christmas. He said he couldn't dream of charging me more once I told him I was actually going to drink it. Sadly it was rotten.

Apparently the shop has had at least one sale of over £1000.00

Think it mainly shows how much of an overestimate/pisstake the Fullers shop prices are.

Yeah, I should've said not bad... relatively speaking. In comparison to elsewhere. Hmm.

The Amazon ones come without boxes which might partly be why it's cheap. Also the RRP has gone up again to £55.

Good King Henry Vintage Reserve has up until very recently been billed as 'arriving in late 2015' and now it's disappeared from the Old Chimneys website and Eebria. What gives?!
