so had this at rare beerfest and was blown away by it, is it something easy find around the cities? Heading over again in a week or so. Any chance of landing a bottle anywhere?

Barrel Aged Patience is astounding. There were 1,600 bottles made according to the bottle, so I'd imagine it's still available out in the wild, though I haven't been looking since I bought a couple. If I see one I'll let you know. Good luck!

I was really excited to try this initially, but wasn't blown away by my bottle. I thought the cognac was lacking, but maybe I missed something?

I've had always though along the same lines, until last weeks Rare Beer Fest. When I tried it in succession with lots of other highly regarded barleywines, it was one of the stand outs. It was a little bit of a perspective thing for me.

Hmm alright. I have a second bottle, so maybe i'll crack it open soonish. When I had my first, it was during a share after many beers, so maybe that didn't help.

I had it, shortly after the DM barelywine release. I think what puts people off- or on with this beer is the different style - maybe someone more beer savvy can clarify this - I dont know if its an American vs English barleywine thing but in my experience most barleywines ive experienced are more hop or alcohol? forward while patience is very malt forward while hiding the alcohol resulting in a much different flavor. TBH I think its a good beer, not my favorite, but its definitely different.

I just called all the Chan, Bloomington, and Roseville TW's and no one said they had any?

Barleywines can range from being very malt forward to balanced more towards hop bitterness but in all cases should demonstrate a complex and firm malt backbone. As with most styles the American versions are generally more hop forward than traditional British counterparts. At 88.5 IBU as published on the Fulton website Patience would be outside of the normal range for English Barleywine, but without knowing more about the recipe (and/or tasting the beer) it's hard to say if this is an American Barleywine or a more hop forward English version.

I had trouble finding this over the phone at first because people thought I was looking for regular Patience (long gone). The on-line inventories at TW show it is there (Chan & Burnsville), so leg-work might be required.

Hmm, I looked online first and didn't see it anywhere? I must be doing something wrong. Thanks for the heads up!

It to me was more English than American, I keep it simple when I lump them, did I taste a lot of hops = American/malt with a little booze = English

If people are having trouble getting this, let me know, the local store in Mankato has plenty and be would be happy to mule some up to the cities next time I'm in town or arrange a trade or something. 4$4 type stuff.

I was at Chan a few days ago and they had 4 or so bottles on the shelf. I think their issue is that they are mislabeled. Their shelf makes them look like the regular version, but it's not.
