You know what else is played out? New Holland Dragon's Milk. Gawd, I'm so sick of that crap being year-round.

Damnit! Its year round!? I just picked some up while in Missouri and thought it was the rare WHALEZ #sarcasm

Though, as others have mentioned I wish karbach would just make bbh its own name and year round, and stop using it in the fun series. i get to the point of "why do I want to buy another bottle of something I have 3 of already, because its limited?" Ya, the barrels are different, but i get tired of spending $50 on 3-4 bottles of the same release to find out its not much different than the 5 bottles of previous releases i have at home. And if I was to only buy 1 bottle and its much better its already sold out by the time I can get back to the store.

I always pick up at least 3 bottles of BBA Hellfighter. I still have a FraGeeLay from last year...so I'll probably pick up 2 bottles next Monday?

I believe there's cocoa nibs also tossed into 'dem 'dere barrels....

or at least that's what the labels on last year's says.... I think I still have one stashed in the cold locker....

I was under the impression it was referring to the cocoa nibs used in the brewing of Yule

And that makes me an entitled jackass how exactly? I would like them to come up with something different than what they've been putting out. As stated above, it would be great to have this as a regular beer as it keeps popping up. They certainly have the ability to experiment. Entitlement, I think not.

GOD I'M TIRED OF BBH GETTING RELEASED ROUTINELY, IT'S SO PLAYED OUT.

I WISH THEY'D MAKE IT A REGULAR RELEASE.

(what if i told you, that's precisely what is going on. I'm sorry, but if I ever feel a local brewery making a badass bourbon barrel porter is played out enough that I won't buy it, or other beers from their lineup, I've reached the end of my usefulness in craft beer. Go ahead and put me down. Apply that to any other small/local/craft business.)

As for boycotting the FUN series because there's not enough variety, that's just dumb.

they did fra gee lay last christmas, they did it this christmas. it's essentially a christmas beer, released near christmas. whoopty shit if it's rereleased. they're essentially making a world class bb porter as a non-schedule based rotating release, by putting it in the FUN series. All the others have been different beers/variants. How many DRs have been released in this time? Five different beers for the fun series vs... two? (and do not tell me that 12, and most of the bishops barrel beers have not been awful, they have.. the icons have been.... ok for the most part. karbach does not have the ability to keep up with SA either, so i guess this was a dumb comparison.)

(even so....) I'M BOYCOTTING THE DIVINE RESERVE SERIES. I'M SICK AND TIRED OF THEIR BS.

Why do people have this incessant need for something new and experimental, when half the time experimental beers do not live up to expectations? Put out enough marginal beers/misses, and the hits start to be forgotten... not a great business plan, no? How many experimentations a year does Cantillon do? One?

Know what you do well, get better at it, and keep doing it.

    I do not get it.

If you're thinking of chasing down 008 and never tried the last iteration of Fra-gee-lay, my advice is to go ahead and save half the money you'd spend on it and buy Yule instead.

One of those (somewhat common, nowadays) examples where the base beer is better than the barrel aged version. They put it in a barrel because they could, not necessarily because they should.

I'm hoping this years is better. I completely agree though. If they don't change something it won't be worth the money for sure.

Last years didn't taste like barrel and muted all the spices.

I actually still have 2 of them still sitting... maybe I'll open and see.

So BBH is a solid beer but you're mad they release too frequently?

Feel free not to be a lemming and buy it. That means there's a chance we can get it more than a couple times a year here in DFW.

Good lord. Seek it out and buy it if you want. If you don't want it, don't get it. I love both Yule and this, so I will be getting some. It shouldn't be that hard to get either.

Gordon Street Pub in Alvin is tapping a keg on December 17th at 6pm. I plan on hitting that up as it is very close to my house.
