Isn't that how you're suppose to pronounce Miller? I believe the F is silent.

While I agree, working at ICBC, it can get really annoying, especially at local events. No one can touch Sir Myron Cope!

This is correct. Woosta is kind of a kin to people saying chowdah and thinking it's authentic. The Boston Accent (different from the Worcester Accent, I know) is much more apathetic than people give it credit for. 'R' doesn't get replaced with 'H'. It get's ignored entirely.

So if you'e going to pronounce gueuze as 'gerzeh' in Boston, it would probably sound something like 'geyze' (say it lazily) - more like 'gays' than 'guys'.

I was wearing a Guinness shirt in the grocery store once (or maybe twice). The cashier looks at it and says "Genius? Are you smart or something?" I couldn't even muster up a witty response at the time.

In western North Carolina, I've found several bars with Southern Tier 2XIPA, where most of the waitstaff call it 2 times IPA...like you're ordering a fucking math equation!

Really happy about the Nøgne Ø clarification...

...and while this thread is fun-based, I'm finding it rather edifying as well (a similar thread on beer pronunciations once got removed, perhaps it lacked "fun" value or it went astray with errant or inappropriate posts).

What about this brewer: Haandbryggeriet - anyone stumble across an accurate/in-house pronunciation? I found an interview vid on Vimeo but I only saw it in captions in the beginning and couldn't make out the pronunciation...

I've heard a few takes on Piraat: pirate (avast ye!), pee-rat, and pee-rot - any official, in-house clips from Van Steenberge?

Duvel gets two main takes on pronunciation from what I've heard - and being a big fan of them, I'd hope I'm saying it correctly: I say it like Doo-vul (nearer to "removal") as opposed to Du-vell (nearer to "compel")... takers?

Ommegang always confuses me with their plays on words in their product line, like Gnomegang and Ommegeddon, but here's this video...

...that I assume sets the record straight (about :30, :40, and :47)?

    Alrighty then...

    Sláinte!

One of the Reno casinos where I gambool on occasion has Lagunitas IPA in bottles, but not a single cocktail waitress has any clue what a 'Lagunitas' is. I have to ask for 'the IPA with the big letters'. And about 35% of the time I get brought a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Either way, not complaining when all it costs is a $1 tip.

Shared a Trois Pistoles with a friend once, and later on he told his brother that we had drunk some "Troy's Pistols".

I will admit to saying 'Why-Hine-Steph-Honor" out loud more than once.

Since a few people asked about this

The vowel in dubbel is pronounced as the vowel in the English word 'put'.

    Some hints about Dutch names:
    - w = v just like German, unless it's at the end of a syllable, where it's silent
    - Westmalle= vest-mall-uh)
    - Brouwerij= brau-er-eye

-ij = eye (it's a different vowel, but this is close enough for English speakers)
    -oe = boo
-u ~ put (in most cases)
    -ou = house
-ui ~ house (this is a different vowel, but sounds similar to that in house)

    And since someone asked:
Piraat = pee-rahht (long vowel in second syllable)
Van Steenberge= fahn stain-burr-ghuh (gutteral 'gh')

Source: me- linguistics major, proficient Dutch speaker, also highly proficient German speaker if people got German questions

edit- Duvel is apparently French so my pronunciation didn't apply

Which is it? I always called it "hoo na poo" and googled it and looks like "hoo na poo" is accurate. But, then you have the more historically accurate websites that say it could be way different. My buddy pronounces it hun a foo which doesn't sound right to me, either.
