Rather than go for more heady go for some of the other amazing beers in the area. Instead of a Winooski run take a trip to Hill Farmstead with a stop at Lost Nation for lunch and you'd definitely have time to hit Treehouse on the way back if you really wanted to.

Green Mountain National off of 100 in Killington is fantastic golfing.

yeah, i mean... heady is great, and a case of heady over the summer is great, but... if i'm in the area, i want to load up on hill farmstead growlers. grab a heady 6pack if i stumble on one. (shrug) all personal preference.

I know i already said it, and other people have, but go to hill. Just like @Pahn said, next time you go to VT you will be less concerned about finding heady

As one man in the house that drinks beer how long will 5 growlers be good for though? Better to put them in fridge obviously right? That's why I prefer the can situation to have for a month or two and drink as I want ya know... Now you guys got me contemplating grabbing 1 case heady at winooski and take the hour and a half drive to hill for 5 growlers...

this is 100% worth it. The growlers last longer than you think. I opened up a double citra from july 4th last weekend and it was still incredible. As long as you keep them refrigerated they will hold for a bit. Plus the saisons/non ipas at HF are fantastic as well. Also, its only about a 50 minute drive from Hunger Mountain, so not too too far, and you get to go to parker pie after and get incredible pizza!

Dude you guys convinced me! So leaving CT 5 AM tomorrow head to Winooski be there 9:15 or so. Wait for a case at 10 AM. Then head to Hill Farmstead grab 5 growlers. Then lunch somewhere. (NEED AWESOME OPINIONS) Then head back down to Treehouse Brewery then finally home!!

Never been to Hill Farmstead. From what they have currently on tap what are your 4-5 MUST's!?

    Assuming Abner, Susan and...

    Love you people!!!!

Edward and Everett for sure. My 5th would probably be Nelson but Legitimacy and S&S are also great.

Called Winooski and they made it sound like I should get there for 8:30 AM for a case at 10 AM. You guys agree? Am I better off just waking up an hour early and go to Hunger MTN for 7:45 AM with a better chance to get a case then just go to Hill and be at Hill extra early for their noon opening?

When busy Winooski only gives cases to first 5 or so in line and then adjusts limits down to spread out. Given HM drops 160 cases and keeps limit at a case, I would just go there, grab breakfast, and then head up to HF.

This ^. Leave earlier and get to montpelier before 8. Then if you go to winooski you can probably grab a couple 4 packs, or head to warren for lawsons. I am not sure what they will have for bottles this week but i grabbed some maple triple last week elsewhere. Also hill usually opens earlier that noon. Today they opened before 11 according to the monthly hill thread. But there should be no rush to get there, do your heady haul and get to hill whenever you can. Let us know how you do!

While you are waiting in line for heady, look up directions to hill, maybe write them down. If you rely on your phones GPS there is a good chance you will lose service on the way and you might have a hard time finding it. Don't skip everett, if you don't get a growler fill at least get a sample, being a hop head i have made that mistake before.

Thanks Ev, good to know! Currently enroute with an ETA for Hunger of 7:25 AM. What a beautiful morning so far! Think I might stop at Warren after Hunger maybe look for some sip bottles then head to Hill. Anyone have any great lunch recommendations after Hill near there or on my way back down to Treehouse?

    Thanks!

Lost Nation will be on your route back after Hill Farmstead. I saw it recommended on here and stopped there when I did my run in April and very happy I did. Great food and they have a few good brews

I'd hit up parker pie. It's about 25 min away from HF, but the pizza there is awesome and they always have HF on tap. get the green mountain special...its awesome. Lost nation is also a solid suggestion, but every time i go to hill i make it a point to stop at parker.

In line now at Hunger got here at 7:20 AM. About 50 people in line. Anyone have suggestions for good stores to stop at on my way to Hill Farmstead to try to find maple sip or anything else unique? Don't really want to head back southwest to Warren just to come back up to Hill after...

    Thanks!!!

Yeah, Parker Pie is great and close to HF for a quick lunch and brew on your way out!

It should be noted that Parker Pie is in the opposite direction if the OP intends to drive back to CT today. I would recommend taking the extra time to drive down to Montpelier/Waterbury as it will save time on the ride home. However, Parker Pie is pretty close to the highway.

Get a breakfast sandwich at The Warren Store.
