Interesting. Definitely a really cool event for the locals. I won't be able to make it due to work, but I doubt I would've even landed a ticket if I didnt. Guess Zwanze day will be my new yearly pilgrimage outside of my once a month trips for releases.

Really looking forward to this. Hoping it is a come and go as you please and not a sit down service. Not sure I can make it by 6:00 but would really like to get out there.

It won't be sit down service. We're modeling it after the GABF Farm to Table Pavilion or "Live Fire" or "Wine and Swine" put on by the Austin Food & Wine Alliance, if you're familiar with any of those events. - Jeff

Thursday makes it difficult for me with work, but depending on the beer list I may still head down. I love a good pairing event like this!

You Austin people sicken me with your 'oh, I might not make it, I have to work. Nevermind the fact I can get there in 30 minutes or less.'

    Lol

Is anyone from Houston planning to make the trek? If I can organize it, I may try to fly in from NY direct to Austin but I'd need a ride back to Houston (probably with luggage from NYC) if possible. I'll be happy to kick in gas/beer. BM me if interested. (Again, this is only "if I can organize it" - in terms of time off from work.)

I know some will call my following comments silly...

Nocturn blend 2 is a very different beer from blend 1, with a different base beer and blackberries. Yet is was still called Nocturn.
This event is very different from past FnSF, yet still called FnSF.
I think there's another beer that had it's base changed, but is called the same thing.

Is there any reason you change beers/events in such large ways and keep the same name?
This event sounds more like a Food and Sour Fest. Or Funk and Food fest.

Does a name really matter for this? It is about having funky/sour beers. I do not see a reason to change the name of an event just because they decided to change the way they are running it.

Is baseball as its played now the same as it was 50 years ago? How about football? Yet they still call them both baseball and football. Just because something changes doesn't mean it needs a new name. I've seen other people bring this issue up too and sorry but I just don't get it.

It's the old question of whether a river is in fact the same river from second to second - surely all the drops of water at any point in a river are different than the drops of water that previously occupied that space. And what if the river changes shape/direction, as often happens? Is it still the same river or a new river? And what if someone does rename the river (perhaps because it changes course massively, or perhaps because a new group of people now controls the river)?

The Atlanta Braves have been a professional baseball team since 1871. But at that time, they were the Boston Red Stockings. Their history is directly traceable from Red Stockings to Red Caps to Beaneaters to Doves to Rustlers to Braves to Bees back to Braves, then to Milwaukee as the Braves, and finally in 1966 to Atlanta, as the Braves. Which of those teams are the same? Are they all the same team? Or perhaps only since 1966 can they be considered the same team (even though transitions were accompanied by something similar, such as the same ownership, or even many of the same players)? Or maybe they can only be considered the team since their last player transaction?

    This question fascinates me.

Well, this topic has taken an unexpected turn. I do not know why I am surprised.
