I know this might be a stupid question. Since the format has changed since last year, will there still be bottles for sale? Or has that been thrown out the door.

I'm certain that Jester King will continue selling bottles to go; after all it is their highest margin revenue item. They would be foolish to stop doing that during an event. The logic I heard behind this was that they would never sell a special release beer, the same day as a special festival in the future, so as to prevent any unnecessary congestion of the two things intersecting.

    Cheers,
    Chad

I am still wondering about this part....

"Tickets for the event will go on sale Thursday, October 16th at noon and will be available through the Jester King Brewery website. Details about ticket cost and quantity available will be released in the days ahead."

I was just wondering the same. My guess is they will be on the expensive side. $75-$100?

I have my limit on what I am willing to pay. And, if it is $5 over my limit, I will probably give in.

I'm more interested in the format of the beer and food moreso than the cost of admission. I remember paying $25 for the Goose Island event during last year's Austin Beer Week for all you can drink cherry rye, their regular line up as well as all you can eat food. Although I don't plan on getting trashed, all you can eat food from these restaurants does sound pretty tempting.

We'll post more details tomorrow, but it's not going to be an all you can eat event from these restaurants. That would be fun though.

Hopefully before 12 when the tickets go on sale?

It really weeds out the crowds if you have to purchase tickets and not know how much they cost. Could be a good move by JK.

I'm sure I can't be the only one that wants to know what my money gets me before I commit to driving 2 hours to JK.

One important point to add to this discussion is that if it were legal for us in Texas to host an event like Shelton Bros. The Festival or Crooked Stave What the Funk?!, that's what our Funk n' Sour Fest would be like. Sadly, TABC licensing fees and/or the lack of a festival exception for out of state breweries makes this impossible. If the law ever changes, that's what our Funk n' Sour Fest will be like. Until that happens, we'll do the next most exciting thing we can think of, which is to pair some of the best chefs in central Texas with outstanding beers, ciders and wines. - Jeff

@jesterkingbeer will there be an update on pricing before ticket sales go live?

Boo for those shitty TX state laws... and too bad they didn't get changed before I left... but once again, hooray for Jeff and JK (and Brock and SA) for helping to get them moving in the right direction.... What The Funk is the best beer event period. I hope you guys can host something similar one day. But I would gladly pay any $ amount to attend the Funk N Sour Fest if I was still back in my home state. I'm sure this event will be outstanding. Keep making those great brews @jesterkingbeer !!!

Damn! I'm usually write my congressmen once a year on beer issues but gonna have to ramp this up to making friends and family send letters too. I'll start looking on Open the Taps, but is there one of those General Constituent letters we can send? And while I have high hopes I can use my citizenship rights, I used to clerk for a TX Senator back in the day and those were never viewed by him but staff only.
