I hear that Natty's has a Durian sour aging in barrels. Maybe that one will make an appearance.

Just a few days away, and very few details. I`m not worried about the beer side of things, but details on food, entertainment, and transportation would be nice. Are they going to be taking us to the location 15 at a time or are they rolling big time like SN with the large buses.

There's very few people I know of who like the smell and taste of durian more then myself. Making a sour durian is not something I have high expectations for.

I've had a durian wine before. It was an acquired taste. And I didn't acquire it. Will be interesting, that's for sure.

    Avery will be pouring:

    Fortuna
    Tectum et Elis
    Insula Multos Collibus
    Raspberry Sour

See you all Saturday! I'll be the tall guy with glasses and a neckbeard. Which means...the only way you'll be able to pick me out amongst the sea of people that will look just like me is my Avery shirt :grinning:

Can anything made with Durian really ever be ready?

I'm coming down Friday and trying to set up a beer share. Running into issues with where to set it up. Can't by law be at a bar and ALE (ABC) are being strict right now. Any thoughts?

Hotel room? I'm not sure that I buy the bar excuse (though I could certainly see why they wouldn't want to host as it'd eat away at their profits since most bars in Asheville will be full on a Friday night), but ultimately if they don't want to host they aren't going to host.

Personally: Apricot Sour from Cascade, Gose Gone Wild from Stillwater, Natty Greene had 2 sours I loved, the American Sour and the Sorghum Sour. I was totally taken back by a Watermelon Sour out of Georgia, but couldn't tell you who made it... Was talking with someone reached over grabbed a glass full, walked off, into the conversation tasted it and had no clue where I had gotten it. >sighs<

These were my highlights. I'm looking forward to the Grape based Sour Wicked Weed is springing on us.

How sure are you that it was from Georgia? The only thing I can find that I tried from Georgia was from Wrecking Bar Brewing, Rosa Gose. Not watermelon, but it is pink since its brewed with hibiscus flowers. But I only tried one from Wrecking Bar and I'm pretty sure everyone brought at least two, so I probably missed one of theirs.

You know I'm gonna hope for the best on this and prepare for the worst. By the way you should crack open a durian from G Mart and serve it with the beer. If you want I will go pick one out and bring it to you guys.

Haha, I'll try to keep you posted when the durian beer is released, but it won't be this weekend.

Could have been Orpheus if they were there last year, sounds like something they would brew.

While I don't think I tried every beer, I really thought I tried at least one beer from every brewery and don't have them in my notes. Though I agree that it sounds like something they would brew.

Saw Haw Rivers post on Facebook that they are bringing kegs of Elderberry Flanders and a Barrel-aged Brett Saison along with bottles of a Funky Tripel

Has anyone found info on the transport between the Funkatorium and the fest? I keep asking people at WW, who say there will be transportation, but a complete lack of details three days out from the festival makes me really not want to rely on it. It would be nice to have some concrete information so we could arrange for DDs . . .
