I live about an hour from Funk Brewing and am thinking about checking it out this weekend. I haven't heard much about their beer. Can anyone offer some info as to whether it is worth the trip? Also, other than Shangys, abes, and weyerbacher are there any other stops nearby. I appreciate any advice that can be given.

The Trappe Door is in the area. Don't think they open till 4 though.

Trapp Door opens at 11 on Sat & Sun, good brunch food and taplist
Strange Brew is only a few minutes from Funk. Liberty is great but on the other side of town.
Also, 2 minutes from Funk are 2nd street pub and Volpe's, both of which almost always have funk on tap (which is nice because they can't sell pints at the brewery yet) but the rest of the taps won't be to the level of Liberty and Strange Brew

As for worth the trip, they are making some really nice and pleasant beers. They have a 'tasting tour' that allows you to sample everything (quite liberally) and they fill outside growlers. They have been tapping special firkins on Fridays that have been making it into the rest of the weekend. Check their FB, they are active on there

I have not been to their place. But over the summer they were pouring their Citrus IPA at a local beer fest and I thought it was pretty tasty.

Stopped by Funk to meet a friend on the way back to NJ from Pizza Boy. It was a solid stop... No bad beers, but nothing mind blowing. Not sure if it's worth a 2 hr round trip drive though. Perhaps @nrs207 can elaborate a bit more.

Funk's not a bad stop. Weyerbacher is always OK. Unfortunately we don't really have a brewery doing anything world class around here. Luckily Funk is very new, and I think they have potential to be a solid brewery.
