Got to JK at 11:55. We thought the entrance line, then went directly the bottles to-go line. It is now 2:05 and I am still about 30 minutes from actually getting bottles.

Anyone have some suggestions for how this festival could be improved? Because this is the worst fest I have ever been to by a large margin. And this is coming from a guy that absolutely loves Jester King and the people who run it. I brought friends who aren't't that into beer and I am embarrassed after telling them how awesome this was supposed to be.

So the funk is from all those people standing outside in the humidity for 3 hours?

"But jester king didnt see this coming!!!!"

Lol been in the bottle line for 2 hours now

    Other highlights:
    - regular beer lines are 45 min long.
    - entrance line took 45 min to get in. And we got here at 1130.
    - you can tell that they didnt "expect" lines like this because the picnic tables are right next to the tent and lines are snarled past them
    - of course JK only has the hip ipod card scanners... And they arent scanning peoples cards as they arent working. People are having to try and give them 4 different credit cards. That and only two people are selling bottles to over 1800 people.
    - most understaffed event i think ive ever been to, beer or not. Not thought out at all. You would have thought that with the response that they got from the bottle ticket sales, they would have expected this.

Oh and i see why they didnt sell the omniscience retail...

Yeah the lines suck but this is a very small operation. Not trying to make excuses for JK but this has to be the biggest amount of people they've ever hosted. Lines to get pours are about 10 min long, not too bad. I could think if worse ways to spend a Sunday

I got there early and everything was fine. The tasting lines didn't get out of hand until about 1:30. But, part of that was due to the check in line taking so long.

I think what is important to remember is Jester King has been GREAT about listening to feedback and improving events, bottle releases, etc. There isn't a need for 15 different posts about the lines being a clusterfuck. Based on their previous responsiveness and sensitivity to the wants and needs of their fans, I'm sure they are well aware of how effective today's event is going and how they can improve future events and bottle releases.

Get there early. I waited 20 minutes to get my tickets. Hit all the JK sours very quickly with little wait, then waited 50 minutes for my bottles. I waited longest for my final pour of Atrial. Gave some tickets away because I had more tickets than time.

Overall, I had a good time, they need to improve with the entry and bottle purchase process, but otherwise it was alright.

Lol at Funk n Line Fest. Sums it up perfectly

Me personally it was a 11:45 arrival and finally got in at 12:20. Then another 90 minutes to purchase my bottles. I didn't even use all my tickets because I got tired of waiting in huge long lines. The beer lines were at least moving at a steady pace. It was the bottle line that really SUCKED.

Guess I was lucky. I only waited 3 hours in the bottle line. Whew.

Got here at 1230, waited in line for 45 minutes to get in and then another 4 hours to pick up my bottles. We tag teamed while we were in line to get pours but yeah it was probably around 230/3 when we started getting in tasting lines.

My wife and I had a "brunch" wedding to go to this morning in Austin at 11. We got to JK at 2:30 and have been in the bottle line since we arrived. It's 6:08 now and we are still 30-45 min from getting some bottles, hopefully. Long drive to Houston after this. Wasn't how I thought the Fest would be. Disappointed.

They definitely needed more than one bottles to go line and/or a separate line for people just picking up already allocated beers, but some of that isn't their fault. I was standing in line behind a guy that took ten minutes to decide what t-shirt he wanted, as if he couldn't see the shirts while he was waiting in line. Also, it's a brewery shirt, not your spouse, house or your next car, it's okay to put a little less thought into it. Now, multiply that by every person that didn't decide what beers, shirts, glasses, prints they wanted before they got to the front of the line...

I know it wasn't perfect, but I had a great time. We figured out the system and always had one person in every line. it was amazing seeing that many people out at Jester King. I had a lot of great conversations with a lot of different people. I can't wait for the next big event.

Hey, not sure how you're getting back to Houston, but I10 is closed at 99 in Katy today. We went through westbound this AM and it wasn't bad detouring onto the access road; different story from the looks of it eastbound. If you're headed back late it might be fairly light traffic.

Dissapointed that they used the same amount of iPads for the merch table as the bottle sales. When I got in line they were not selling any Atrial allotment from merch side but by the time I got up to the front of the line they were letting people buy an Atrial and pick up bottle ticket allotment. So instead of waiting for 3 hours in line I could've just waited 20 minutes tops. They really needed to separate the allocation/atrial pickups from the general sales. Still had fun and the beers were great, so this is just constructive criticism.

I'll formulate a more thoughtful response tomorrow, but I apologize for the long lines at the fest. It's a shame because we wanted the focus to be on the three new beers we invested a ton of time making and are very proud of. Obviously that falls on us. To the extent we do any special events in the future, they'll be much smaller. I apologize to everyone who didn't enjoy their experience at our brewery today. While we remain very proud of the beer lineup we put on today, the logistics could have been much better and the event should have been much smaller.
