The Monk's event WAS crowded but if the taps had been working properly it wouldn't have been nearly as intolerable. Hopefully this time the beers are pouring smoothly and they utilize the front as well as the back bar.

Traditional as in not using any adjuncts or traditional as in being a regular old-world style porter? Everett is very untraditional, IMO, if referring to the latter.

thanks everyone for the kind words. I take some of the blame for the monks event and that is why I hopped behind the bar as well. The beers we sent were severely overcarbonated when we jumped them into other kegs. Because of that the beers were tough to pour and it slowed down the staff. They handled it well but it was pretty packed.

It's not your fault. It's how events are always at Monk's. The Lost Abbey beers of the previous year poured fine and the event was still a mad house. It's just how it is there.

    Former, and in comparison.

It's still odd to use the word traditional. Everett is more of a traditional porter than Last Snow? I'll agree there but that's like comparing two morbidly obese people who are ten lbs apart in weight and saying one is skinnier than the other.

Fair enough, traditional was not the correct word to use, at least not in the way i used it. I guess what I meant is that the ingredients and flavors in Everett are more conventional to modern day porters than Last Snow's.

Normally, I would completely agree with everyone's sentiments regarding Hulmeville Inn. I would like the place so much more if they didn't allow smoking, but if they get any FB I'll thank my lucky stars. It's out in the sticks, it's relatively close to Bawlmore, and I know the smoking will keep some folks away (as it normally would for me). So I'm praying they get some, and I'll just hold my nose while drinking my Last Snow (or whatever they're fortunate enough to get). We all do what we have to do to achieve karma and equilibrium in life.

Just don't sit next to me, because I'll have a big fat stogie in my non-beer hand. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry to break your bubble, but it was an absolute shit show during PBW when they had FB on.

I've never had a beer from Funky Buddah but a lot of them seem to be fruit flavored beers? Is this the new thing? Why do people love these beers that are all fruity?

I'm not trying to troll or be funny I'm serious. I've never seen people clamor over fruit flavored beers before until Funky Buddah came around.

if nobody clamored over fruit sours, i'd have a hell of a lot more of them.

The clamor over fruit berlinners is fairly recent...but people have been going crazy for Krieks, Framboises, and other fruited lambics for many years.

with SOURS being the operative word. everyone goes wild for limited lambic, flanders, berliners, etc - regular "fruit flavored" beers don't get the same attention, otherwise leinenkugel berry weisse would be a tough find.

also doesnt hurt that FB's fruit berliners are REALLY good.
