Funky Buddah coming to Philly

    I can still smell the Maple Bacon Coffee Porter on my moustache all these months later if I turn off all the lights, make sure it's really quiet, and sniffff.

    Also, I'm with Retail on the quality of Last Snow. Absolutely incredible beer, something tremendously special.

    Prior to FB, I had never had a fruit flavored berliner weisse. The idea had never even occurred to me, and I confess I was skeptical. Attending the FB event at Capone's during PBW was sort of an after thought for me, as I really didn't have very high expectations.

    I guess part of the reason I was so amazed and impressed, is that I felt FB came completely out of left field. The one fruit flavored berliner weisse I had was an absolute revelantion (the beer is not at all sweet, and the fruit flavor was married perfectly to the berliner weisse flavor profile - frankly, I was completely amazed). Everything by FB pushed the envelope... even beers I didn't particularly enjoy had me sitting back in awe (just too much ginger for me in the ginger IPA). Anyway, it's just kind of rare to see someone who is this innovative, and who pulls off everything so well. If there's anyway I can make it up from Falls Church when these beers are tapped, I'll definitely be there.

    I think a lot of people consider Berliner's to be sours. They're obviously very different from Lambics, but still under that generic sour umbrella.

    any update about FB's brews? Now that GABF is over though monks or bella might chime in on the FB brews.. then again.. maybe not... if anybody knows and doesn't want to publicly out the info you can always send me a PM, thanks

    info about the event or any others.. i did see the beer list.. wasn't sure if monks was getting everything or if other bars would be getting some as well.. just looking for all around more info if any is out there as i haven't seen any on twitter/BA etc..

    Ah okay, wasn't sure. Rumors are that Monk's got most of it but at least one other bar got some. I'd assume Prohibition is the other bar. Otherwise no specifics have leaked yet.

    I know that any Funky Buddha is good Funky Buddha, but Monk's with the FB Halloween event out of the blue kind of sucks.

    With that said. I'll be there.

    The 2 berliners (Passion & Pineapple) they sent up aren't on the Monk's draft list. They may pop up somewhere, Prohibition Taproom is the rumored other spot the FB beers will be on tap

    That's what Tom told me
    There was also some talk about a Bella Vista berliner event. I'm not sure if it will materialize, but it's possible that BV held onto them for that event.

    Doesn't matter much anymore but Monk's event didn't start at 11:30. Possibly starting at 2 but who knows.
