Funky Buddah coming to Philly

So pissed I dragged the wife to Monks at 11:30. No information via twitter/Facebook/website that the event was not happening. Trying to make the best of it by hitting other bars in the area. Just really flustered right now that I was so looking forward to the Buddha and nothing.

 

Yeah it sucked.

 

So it's rescheduled to another day then?

 

No, just delayed to later today without warning. They will supposedly tapped when Tom arrives which could be some time around 2pm but who knows.

 

And we wait....

 

How crowded is it now? I wasn't sure how the turn out for this would be but I'm assuming very high as it is FB and it's being served at Monk's.

 

About 20 people. Bar seats are full but pretty empty otherwise.

 

Kind of surprised it's not more but I guess people are working...hope that those who have waited since 11:30 get served soon.

 

Missing two days of work because of the hurricane meant a lot of people couldn't just take off today. I went for my lunch hour thinking the beers would be available at 11:30 since that's the last word we'd heard. Unfortunately it wasn't true.

 

Honestly it was kind of a stupid idea to begin with. Oh, the biggest storm ever is ripping through? Sweet, let's throw on all these rare beers on tap with short notice when we have no idea if Philly/customers/anyone will have power/be underwater/be alive. Should've just said, "Oh, hey, Mad Monday this day in November when the entire region won't be f'd in the a"

 

I might go after work, I figured I'd miss them as I get off at 4 and have to take the el from West Philly but if they aren't going on yet then maybe I'll chance it.

 

maybe i have a chance of getting there to try them now. just looking for some last snow, so if anyone wants to keep updating us, please do. i won't be able to get there until probably 6pm. womp womp.

 

Still nothing as of 2:47. Getting pretty tired of waiting. They were 'waiting for Tom to get here' he has now been here for over an hour and still nothing. Obvioussly they will sell the kegs tonight, so it's not like they are waiting for a 'prime' time. Just don't understand how they aren't tapped yet. From what I can tell all Tom has been doing is shooting the shit with friends. I can count atleast 10 people who have been here since 11:30.

 

Eh, the beers will sell out anyway so why wait just because some people can't make it? I'm only annoyed since I showed up when it was supposed to start and didn't get told until about 20 minutes later that it wouldn't be happening for a few hours.

 

If anyone is at monks. They will apparently be pouring at the back bar within the next 30 minutes.

 

If I knew it was going to be another poor showing here, I would have never crossed the Ben Franklin. But, like in poker, I'm pot committed.

Very disappointing.

 

Thanks for the updates on the delay. What are you guys enjoying while you wait? I'm stuck at work drinking coffee...

 

Hopefully they pour without a problem this time.

 

I've had a couple Pliney's, a couple Petrus, a Monks Sour, St Bernabus 12, now onto an 1809 Berliner Weiss.

 

Just a Pliny, and 2 allagash whites. Oh, and anger!
