Hi guys, I've heard good things about the fruit berliner weisses at Funky Buddha. And I've also heard that there are some delicious choices under this style in FL. (Hello, Jonathan Wakefield!). How difficult is it to get bottles of these beers? Thanks!
Everything Funky Buddha is DONG(Draft only no growlers) at the moment. Wakefield is in planning for a brewery, Cigar City does some, but DONG, and the same with Peg's. Coming to Florida is your only choice. Mwuahahahaha
It would well be worth making a trip to Funky Buddha. They were by far the highlight of Brewvival back in February and they had some stiff competition.
Unfortunately it is not legal for Florida brewpubs to fill growlers, bottles, cans, etc. In other words, brewpubs in Florida are only allowed to sell beer for consumption on premises.
While not a FB beer...MichaelLynBryant posted on a thread a couple months ago that there would likely be a bottle release of The Sun & The Sword (Dunedin & 7vnth Sun collab). He threw out a July release date, but I haven't seen anything. I BMed him a couple days ago to see if it was still on track but I haven't gotten a reply yet. The bartender at Dunedin Brewery didn't know anything about it. That being said, I see no chance that it'll be distributed to Washington...
I wasn't even thinking it would be. Completely expecting to have to trade for anything that's available, but it sounds like it's not going to be possible. The beer list for Funky Buddha shows that several were available in bottles. Was this a one-time thing?
There was a thread about this topic a few months ago...here it is - http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/funky-buddha-bottles.21248/#post-256107 If/when I find out that S&S is getting bottled, I'll let you know and get you hooked up.
Just got to see this. Just wanted to say thanks for being patient. We hoped to release The Sun & The Sword berlinerweiss in mid-July, but a number of events culminated in this not happening. We still hope to bring the beer out in glass & will let you know when it's confirmed. I won't throw out any more dates unless they are concrete.
I appreciate the update! Delays aren't a problem, I'm just looking forward to the release & don't want to miss it If you could answer a couple questions - would it be coming out from Dunedin, not 7vnth Sun? And do you have any idea if it'll be a brewery-only release or if it's going to be distributed at all? Thanks!
